Welcome to the 2008 USAV Aloha Region season with 808 Athletics - 808 Volleyball Club!
Here we are again for another great season - our 13th season running! And our club is growing again, with a new Womens team, Gid-D-Up who we will be welcoming to join us at our practices for the Womens B Division and possibly the return of Dysfunktional and our Born Ignorant Mens B team from the previous two years -- here's how we've been doing in the last two seasons!
The last two years have been good to us; In 2007 our Mens BB team, Born Ignorant placed in the top 8 of the B Mens as well as our Womens BB team, Country Girls, placed in the top 8 of the B Womens, our Junior Girls and Boys, boys 18's both placed in the top 8 of their Junior divisions, as well as our 14U Girls, placed top 8 in their division...
In 2006 our Mens A team, Dysfunktional Placed 2nd place in the Mens A, and our Womens BB team, Country Girls placed in the top 8 of the B Womens...
So... back to business, here is some important information regarding this website:

Looking for a club?
If you are looking to affiliate with a Volleyball Club in Hawai'i - the 808 Volleyball Club may be the right fit for you! Our Club is run by Hoku Liu and Shane Akana, and we practice out of Palama Settlement Gym twice a week.
We do not discriminate: we are open to taking on new players, young and old, juniors and adults, trained and just learning, from all walks of life!
As long as you commit to giving your 100% honest effort on the court in games and practices to your team, can pay your fees: up front by cash or check, in montly installments, or via fundraising after a $70 deposit, and come to practice weekly and contribute - we would love to have you!
Our adult fees are modest ($200 for the season - not including gym time fees) (junior fees TBA each year), in comparison with other clubs of similiar size, and we run a competitive practice meant to get the older guys in shape for the court, and keep the young bucks challenged! Each year, our fees include all registration, Officiating, Haili, Uniform fees, in addition to club administrative fees, equipment fee, gym fee, and a fundraising deposit and all monies are reportable each month at our monthly club meeting.
We are a fun loving, light hearted club, who practice to compete (to win) but can take a loss gracefully, with humor and humility, and even take a joke or give a joke :) Basicly, we love, live, and breath volleyball and we operate our club like a family.
Practices for the next season begin in the last week of October, our first fundraiser is in November - and installment of dues are payable by Nov 15, Dec 15, and Jan 15. Final deadline for bringing a team under our club is Jan 25 - where all fees minus any fundraising, sponsors, etc are expected. You can bring yourself as an individual, or bring your friends or an entire team - but please inquire via email or phone and get to know Hoku & Shane when you have a chance.
Our teams have travelled to Hilo Hawaii annually and placed successfully in the top 8 or higher of each division each year! In 2009 we plan to travel to Nationals in the Continental U.S. and will be taking 1 mens and 1 womens team, fundraising will be done each month - and committments need to be firm by April 1st for the following year's Nationals.

The 808 Volleyball Club will be represented by 5 teams in Haili this year in 2008! They are as follows:

All 5 teams have been practicing hard weekly at Palama - looking forward to the competition of each week's practice, tournaments, and of course, Haili. Except for a few, all the fees are in and done with, now it's time to focus on the court skills and taking care of our business on the court.

8th Annual 808 Athletics Ka Pili 'Ana Rager at Tiare's! February 16, 2008
It was a good night! We packed the house and showed Tiare's who REALLY knows how to have a party while having fun, making money, and lots of memories and laughs to take home for free!
Afterward, the club members headed over the Shawns House to help him celebrate another year and vie for the grand prizes: 2 COACH BAGS! over beads, gold coins, food, and wrestling monkeys!
Stay tuned for the dates and times of our next Rager to be held sometime in April (April 12th?) if possible in Kalihi! Same club, same faces, same fun - this time ALL YOU CAN EAT AND DRINK! to support our Mens A team to Nationals!
