2008 FALL BASEBALL
RULES
REMEMBER - Each player must be a
high school student and must have high school eligibility remaining for the
2009 high school season. Hustle all the
time! Use your entire roster. Kids come to play, not to sit on the bench.
RULES SUMMARY
1) Major league rules in effect...
EXCEPT – free substitution allowed
AND you may bat as many players as you wish as long as player always bats in
same spot in batting order. If player
in starting batting order MUST leave game for injury or other legitimate
reason, other than ejection, and no substitute available, team DOES NOT have to
take out for that spot. If player
ejected and no substitute available, team takes out! AND must slide, avoid
contact; AND no jewelry; AND courtesy runners allowed for
pitcher and catcher. Mandatory for
catcher with two outs! Courtesy runner
must be player not in game OR player
who made last out. If player not in
game, same player cannot be used as courtesy runner for both pitcher and
catcher.
2) Ten-run
rule after 4 1/2 or 5 innings will be followed unless BOTH managers agree to
play with a five run per inning limit, and so advise the umpire-in-chief at the
pre-game home plate conference, i.e., BEFORE THE GAME!
3) 2 hour 15 minute time limit....No inning to
be started after 2 hours 15 minutes. If game is tied, game is over!!! All games at Joe Cannon – DROP DEAD at 2 hrs.15 min.
4) There are not to be any forfeits - if teams
are short player(s), borrow player(s) from the other team. Forfeits will drop a team from league. Registration is non-refundable.
5) In case of inclement weather, the HOST team
must call the other team, and scheduler, Larry Hackley, at 410-674-4939. The HOST team is the team responsible for the field at which the
game is to be played, NOT necessarily the HOME team.
6) Canceled
games will not be made up.
7) Fees – BE
PREPARED TO PAY:
Umpires
fees are $60.00 per team per game (two-man crew) - $45 per team (one-man crew)
- $30 per team “show-up” fee; Cannon fee is $20 per team for AA County teams,
$50 per team for out-of-county teams.
8) Baseballs:
Single
games - Each team supplies 2 new baseballs or 1 new and 1 good backup;
Doubleheaders
- Home team supplies 3 new baseballs or 2 new and 1 good backup; each team is
home team for one game.
MISCELLANEOUS
Know
your way to the fields. Get directions
to field early. Don't wait until the
evening before game for field directions.
DO NOT call Mr. Hackley or Jocko
for FIELD DIRECTIONS!
**NOTE**
Now is the time to request
extra games on Tuesday or Thursday nights at Joe Cannon. Make telephone requests to Jocko at
410-761-0642. AA County team is defined
as team with majority of players residing in AA County.
