The 2013 Bobcats put on a little exhibition on Friday. After a good couple of weeks of Spring practice, the team got to put on a show for those that were able to make it out on Friday. It was a good sampling of Bobcat football, and a small preview of things to come.
11/10/12

The Bobcats fall to Portland in front of an electric crowd on Friday night. The Bobcats get inside the twenty four times tonight and come up empty handed and lose to Portland for the first time in five years. White House, who lost to Portland in their first game of the season, will cross the tracks into Bobcat Stadium on Friday night in search of their second district victory. The Bobcats now 2-2 overall and 0-1 in District play, will be looking for their first district win and a much needed victory for the young team. Kudos to the Pep Club for a job well done tonight - by far the best cheer section last night and in any game I have seen in years. Come out and support the Bobcats in this key matchup and rivalry game. Go Bobcats!!
09/01/12
Defensive stats for the games 1&2 vs Springfield and Creekwood have been updated.
08/31/12
After a defensive battle in the first half, the Bobcats were able to come out in the opening drive of the second half and put the first points of the game. With an inspirational run by Junior fullback, James Pentecost, the Bobcats took the lead. Pentecost injured on the play would not return. Sycamore countered with a 70 yard pass completion to deadlock the game once again. Senior, Carson Elder, took an interception to the end zone for what looked like the last score of the game. But Sycamore was not giving up so easily. With two minutes to play in the game, and the Bobcats up by seven and driving, a lost fumble on the War Eagle's 30 yard line put the game in jeopardy. Another 70 yard pass with less than a minute to play tied the game in what looked like the beginning of Overtime. The Eagles intercepted the next play, and were able to put 7 more points on the board with just six seconds to play in the contest. The Bobcats will have to put this one behind them quick as the Portland Panthers, who defeated White House last week, come to Bobcat Stadium.
08/28/12

The Bobcats improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2004! Bobcats defeated Creekwood 28-7 in dominant fashion on Friday night. A night riddled with unusual circumstances such as the lights going out(and staying out), our opponent changing the start time(without letting us know), the bobcats being penalized over and over again everytime a crucial play was made, to playing in front of our former principal and assistant superintendent. The Bobcats did not dissapoint the awesome fans and students that made the long road trip to Creekwood. Scoring on the opening drive and holding the opposing team scoreless until they were able to score with just 55 seconds remaining in the game. Congratulations Bobcats!! 2-0 Baby!!
08/19/12

In front of a nice crowd of fans, during our schools homecoming game, the Bobcats made some big plays in the first ever meeting between the two Robertson County teams. Senior Tailback, Aaron Shelton, led the team with 166 yards on the ground, while the team accumulated 281 yards rushing and another 20 through the air. It would be the special teams play that made the difference for the Bobcats tonight. Bobcat Senior, Easton Pinkelton, hauled in a blocked field goal attempt and took it to the house for a late second quarter TD. After WHH was called for holding on a 2PT attempt to take the lead with 2:48 left in the game, they decided to attempt a long extra point to tie the game. Junior Linebacker, Kyle Kinle, blocked the attempt and secured the win. The Bobcats, now 2-4, travel to Macon County for a very important district matchup. Go Bobcats! Congratulations to Whitney Jones - 2011 GHS Homecoming Queen.
09/17/11
After a miracle ending to last years rivalry game, the feeling was in the air again last night,as the Bobcats mounted a tremendous fourth quarter drive (after being held on 4th down attempts inside WHs 30 on three other drives) to pull within one TD of the Blue Devils. A strange personal foul call on the Blue Devils next drive kept them alive long enough to kick a field goal to seal the Bobcats faith in this year's biggest rivalry game. Homecoming week and a chance for our first home victory of the 2011 season is upon us.
09/09/11
What seemed to be another loss in the making for the Greenbrier Bobcats vs Portland Friday night, with Portland scoring two touchdowns quickly in the first quarter, turned out to be a great come from behind victory for Bobcats and their first victory of the 2011 season. Senior QB, Josh Hopkins completed 6 passes for 250 yards. The Bobcats scored on two big passes to senior reciever Easton Pinkelton (64 yards) and Junior Carson Elder(81 yards), as well as a fourth and goal plunge by Senior fullback, Brandon Laney. Lots of hard hitting in this contest. Great Game. Great win. Congratulations to the Bobcats. Now lets get ready for the Blue Devils!
08/28/11
A JV Game has been added for October 3rd. GHS JV vs Macon County JV @ Bobcat Stadium. (Home). 6PM.
08/27/11
Creekwood quickly put up an early seven points in the first three minutes of the contest on their first drive. The Bobcat's responded with a drive into their opponent's side of the field and stalled on a lost fumble. Two additonal turnovers in the form of interceptions would make for an inprobable comeback. Despite this, the Bobcats, once again played another "leave it all on the field game". We dropped two wide open TD passes, which would have made the game a closer contest, but the offense was able to move the ball on a consistent basis. Both offenses only punted the ball once each in this game. The Bobcats were able to get their offense rolling, but turnovers against a hard-nosed team such as Creekwood could not be overcome. Bobcats 27 Creekwood 42. The Bobcats move on to their first district matchup at home vs Sycamore next Friday Night.
08/23/11
A slide show of photos from the JV vs Westmoreland game was added to the Junior Varsity tab. The pictures are also available to download for free under the pictures tab.

08/20/11
Venue change for Monday's JV game! The Junior Varsity Game on Monday vs Westmoreland will be played AWAY at 6PM.
08/20/11
In what turned out to be a defensive ball game, the Bobcats showed a lot of heart in a very close ball game. The Bobcats had several opportunities to mount a come back, but penalties and a controversial incomplete pass late in the game spoiled the happy ending. Down 12-7 with five minutes to play in the game, a deflected pass looked to be caught one handed by Sophmore tide end, Tyler Hall, at the Springfield 35 yard line. The ruling on the field was incomplete and the Bobcats hopes of a last minute drive was over. Kudos to the players for a hard fought game. Home opener next week vs Creekwood.
08/15/11
The game time has changed several times this week, but we have confirmed that kickoff this Friday will be at 7:30PM. Get there early anyway - it's standing room only by kickoff.

The 2011 Baseball season is under way, and the Bobcats battled through frigid temperatures last night to split their season opener double header. The Bobcats dropped the first game to CPA 2-5 with the help of a three run homer by CPA late in the game. The Bobcats came roaring back in the second game under the arm of senior pitcher, Dalton Corley. Dalton pitched a one hitter, and the offense was able to capitalize on several errors made by the Page Patriots. Final Score was 10-0 after the game was called due to the run rule. The Bobcats finish the weekend up in Page before kicking off district play vs Goodpasture on Monday(away) and Tuesday(Home).
