NATIONAL AMATEUR FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
A new national governing body for minor league/amateur football is being formed to be called the National Amateur Football Association. Randall Field of the Central States Football League and David Litsey, are the organizers. They plan a 2009 National Championship game in Las Vegas, Nevada the weekend of October 16, 17 & 18. The weekend will include a pro combine, all-star game and the championship of the Far West Football Alliance, in additon to the National Spring Championship game matching the top ranked teams in the FWFA vs NAFA. CENTRAL STATES LEAGUE ANNOUNCES ITS LINEUP OF TEAMS AND SCHEDULE FOR 2009
The second year Central States Football League has announced it lineup of teams and a schedule for 2009. The lineup of teams:
Council Bluff Crusdade, Duluth-Superior Shoreman (Duluth), Glenwood Renegades, Hennipen County (Minneapolis) Rams, Iowa Eagles (Manson), Kansas Diamondbacks (Wichita), Minnesota Fighting Scots (St.Cloud), Quad City Stallions, River City Raiders (Omaha), Southside (Omaha) Demons and Iowa Sharks (Sutherland). The Sharks are the defending champions.
The league kicks off its season on April 25th with a preseason game. The regular season begins the weekend of May 2nd. Playoffs are July 25 & August 1st. Championship game is August 8th.

HONOLULU BOWL SET FOR FEBRUARY 7, 2009
The Main Land All-Stars will take on the Team Hawaii All-Stars, Saturday, February 7, 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii. This game was formerlly the Volcano Bowl. The game is held every year the night before the NFL Pro Bowl. The team needs a WR, OL(2), Punter, TE & DB. LABELLE COMMUNITY LEAGUE NEWS
The LaBelle Community league is busy making plans for the 2009 season. A Eastern division is being reformed, and has six teams in the fold to date. The powerhouse Western Division has dropped several teams and has applications from new ones for 2009. They will announce their lineup soon.
The Western Divsion has announced it will not be part of the NAFL playoffs in 2009. Biggest reason was promised money for their teams to travel in the playoffs and championship, which never was realized.
The LaBelle Community League National Championship game is set for Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Mira Costa High School in San Diego, California.
The game will match the Western Champion San Diego Thunder (13-3) vs Philadelphia Panthers, Eastern Champions (13-4).
EASTERN FOOTBALL NEWS
The Eastern Football League is one of the oldest leagues in the USA, and will celebrate their 48th season in 2009. This past season they had five teams: Charlestown Townies (10-3 Champs), Randolph Oilers (7-2), Clinton Irish Blizzard (4-5), Brocton Buccaneers (2-7) and the U. Maine Black Bears Club Team (0-4).
They expect to expand to as many as ten teams in 2009. One new team is already confirmed, the Quincy Milita. The board of directors meet on January 24th to consider new teams for 2009. President of the EFL is Bob Kalinyak, and he can be contacted by emailing him at Yaks1220@aol.com.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL LEAGUE ANNOUNCES LINEUP OF TEAMS AND GAMES
A new league has been formed in Northern California for the 2009 season which will kick off March 14th. The members are from three different leagues who have come together to form one strong league. Here is the lineup of teams:
NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE NORTH: Pacifica (San Francisco) Islanders, NorCal Lawmen, Oakland Vipers and Bay Area Buccaneers. SOUTH: Salianas Spartans, California Warriors, Central Coast Barnstormers and South Bay Stallions.
AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE EAST: River City (Sacramento) Gators, Woodland Hills Wolfpack, Central Valley Rams and Sacramento Cobras. WEST:
North Bay Rattlers, Marin County Bulldogs, Easbay Outlaws and Solano Ravens.
Gone are the Desert Valley Spartans, Bakersfield Panthers, Moreno Valley Mercury, Central Coast Grizzlies and Los Angeles Scorpions.

Cal coach Jeff Tedford agreed to a two year contract extension that takes him through the 2015 season. Tedford has taken the Bears to a school record six consecutive bowls...Tulsa coach Todd Graham has agreed to a 10 year contract that could keep him with the Golden Hurricane through the 2018 season...All American RB Shonn Greene said he will skip his senior year at Iowa and enter the NFL draft...Kansas State QB Josh Freeman is expected to announce he is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft...Ohio State RB Chris "Beannie" Wells isn't rady to say wheter the Fiesta Bowl will be his last game for the Buckeyes before he goes to the NFL.

Eastern Michigan has hired Ron English, making him the fifth black head coach in major college, a person familiar with the contract has said. English served on Lloyd Carr's staff at U.Michigan for five seasons...Duke has given coach David Cutcliffe a two year contract extension through 2015.

A one day tryout is planned for Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Harris Stadium, the home of the Super Weekend Bowl & Championship games starting at 8:30 a.m. All players will receive a legitmate chance at signing a professional contract. In 2008, Aundres Pekins was invited to training camp with the Tampa Bay Storm and finished the season playing with the Arkansas Twister (Arena2). In addition, the camp will be scouted by Af2 teams and coaches from other indoor leagues.
The cost to participate is $60.00 cash. Players from the various Super Weekend Bowl & Championship games at Harris Stadium will receive a twenty dollar discount.
