B&B finishes 2-2
A new version of B&B hit the fields this weekend for the B4B qualifier at BLD Mira Loma. After losing three guys to a defection, we picked up the pieces and put together a good weekend. With a total of 5 new guys filling out the roster, we came out flat in our first game against Team Stupid. We then figured things out, tweaked the batting order a little and rolled to a 16-4 win in the next game, moving us to Sunday morning. First game sunday morning we game out hitting the ball all over the filed en route to a 15-0 shut out victory against Fat Ass. The last game of the day for B&B we againg we flat losing to Changos 12-2. Overall it was a good day. We found the pieces that will replace the guys that left. We played solid defense all weekend, and just need to improve the consistency with the sticks. Next up is ASA in Lancaster for bats on the 31st.
B&B grabs third at the B4B qualifier.....
B&B braved the heat and played solid ball this weekend to walk away with a third place finish. Saturday we started 2-0, then gave a game to FTP, as the defense failed us and we didn't hit enough to make up for the mistakes. Sitting at 2-1 on Sunday morning we knew it would be a long road to get back to the finals. The day started off with us spotting Me Vale an 11-2 lead. Then the defense picked up and the bats started to get going....We held Me Vale scoreless the rest of the way and came back for a 14-11 victory. Bob Baer then threw a shut put against Enforcers, making countless plays up the middle to preserve the victory and put us one game away from the finals. Unfortunately, the third game Sunday our bats went falt, losing to FTP 9-4. Overall 4-2 (third place).
All Tourney - Bob Baer - You made play after play after play up the middle. During the Enforcers game they were actually telling their players to "NOT" hit it up the middle!!!!!
Great Job Guys....next up is May 3rd in Poway (ASA).
B&B comes up short at USSSA March Madness
Tourney Recap....
Game 1 Vs. Never Was - After spotting NW a 15 run lead in the bottom of the 1st inning, We showed alot of heart coming back to take a 18-16 lead heading into the bottom of the last inning. Unfortunately, we were not able to hold the lead and ended up losing 19-18.
Game 2 Vs. Diezel - The real B&B showed up mashing the ball and playing solid defense en route to a mercy win 22-6. Almost everyone on the team had multiple hits this game as we started the first inning off with a 7 spot and never looked back.
Game 3 Vs. The Show - After another 2 1/2 hour break, we were tied at 8 heading into the bottom of the third, this is where the wheels came off. Multiple errors and some timely hitting by the Show sent us home with a disappointing 1-2 record for the day.
Guys, the stats show it, we hit the crap out of the ball 7 of 11 guys ht .625 or better which is excellent. Usually we would be rolling teams witht he way we were hitting the ball. This just wasnt our day!!!

Next up is ASA Bang for Bucks on the 12th/13th.....
Lets keep smokin the ball and tighten up the D and we will be fine.
B&B Comes out strong - grabs a second place finish at the ASA Opener.
Great way to start the 08 season, 2nd place out of 22 teams. All tournies went to:
Bob Baer - .600 and a great job on the mound
Chris (Junior) Schafer - .692 Average
Matt (FUFU) Monroe .778 Average with 12 walks from the lead off spot
Guys....we only hit .546 as a team which means the guys on the bottom need to do a better job, put in a little more time at the cages or in BP. Everyone has off tournies but we need to keep working to get that team average up in the .600-.650 range to win consistently.
B&B Ready for 2008
B&B Softball had a rough start to the season.....A week after throwing together most of the B&B guys and plaing a fun little Amcom tourney (5-0 first place), we ventured out the Hesperia for USSSA Winter States....It wasnt to be this weekend as we ended up 0-2 on the day.
Game One Vs. CIA we were leading 11-10 going into the top of the 5th, but gave up 1 in the fifth and 6 in the sixth and did not have an answer losing 17-10.
Game Two Vs. Unrated we were rolling in this game until a brutal call by the umpire took us out of our game. We ended up losing 22-14. Rough day, but for our first tourney we showed some promise.
Two loses to two "D" teams still playing in the E's.
Thanks to Timmy for the big swinging K in the first inning of game one...I am sure he will have some nice refreshments (first pitcher of beer) for us on the 9/10th....
The final pieces of the B&B puzzle should be confirmed in the next couple of weeks to fill the roster out at 12-13 strong. Next up is ASA Season opener on the 9/10th at BLD Covina. We have 10 confirmed right now, just waiting to hear back from one or two.
