    Congratulations to Deputy Commissioner Groneman!!!!

    The SCPD Association of Women Police will be honoring Deputy Commissioner Belinda Groneman as Woman of the Year. Commissioner Groneman is a dedicated police professional who cares deeply for our police and the community we serve. She continues to be an excellent leader and an inspiration to young women seeking a career in law enforcement. Congratulations to her on this well deserved honor.

    R.I.P. Officer John Jantzen

    On April 24th, we commemorated the life and legacy of Suffolk County Police Officer John Jantzen, who tragically lost his life on that date in 1991. While off-duty, Officer Jantzen responded to gunfire outside a Lake Grove restaurant on Route 25. Despite his swift action to intervene, he was fatally shot upon entering the building.

    R.I.P. Deputy Inspector George McMullen

    On April 24th, we honored the life and memory of Suffolk County Deputy Inspector George McMullen who was taken from us on that day in 1969. Inspector McMullen was on duty when he responded to the scene of a fatal plane crash in a wooded area of South Setauket.

    First Step to Right this Wrong!!!

    “This generation of police officers is being cheated out of a fair retirement.  We applaud the Governor and legislature for taking a first step to right this wrong in this year's budget. Thank you to all the elected officials fighting to fix pension tiers 5 and 6.

    Congratulations to our 2023 Silver Shield Recipents.

    At our open meeting on April 16th, we were honored to recognize the bravery and heroism of Police Officers Michael LaFauci, Shaun Sullivan, and Douglas Gaul from the 6th Precinct Anti-Crime Unit. Officer LaFauci was injured in the line of duty while pursuing a wanted subject who shot and injured him.

    The pre-tax benefit plan allows you to take advantage of tax savings on unreimbursed medical expenses, childcare, and adoption assistance. The amount of money you elect to put into the plan will be divided over twenty-five pay periods and taken from your check pre-tax similarly to your deferred compensation.  You may then submit for reimbursement for eligible expenses.   This is a great way to save. However, unused monies in excess of $610.00 are forfeited, so be sure to plan your expenses accordingly.   Open enrollment is September 15, 2023 - December 15, 2023.  For more information click here.
