Hydroxyapatite (HA)
Powders · Coatings · Discs

Our Most Popular Biomaterial with a Wide Array of MEDICAL Applications

Himed manufactures medical-grade hydroxyapatite for clients around the world at our 25,000 sq. ft. facility in New York.

Available in various forms including powders, granules, discs, and custom shapes, our hydroxyapatite supports a wide range of medical and laboratory applications. Our MATRIX HA® coating, applied via plasma spray, enhances implant performance by improving osseointegration and biocompatibility for dental, orthopedic, and spinal implants.

Assorted Uses for Hydroxyapatite (HA)

MCD Apatitic Abrasive
Resorbable Blast Media (RBM)

A Biocompatible Alternative to Conventional Abrasive Grit Blasting

Himed’s award-winning MCD Apatitic Abrasive is a biocompatible, resorbable blast media ideal for post-processing titanium, titanium alloy, and PEEK surfaces.

Engineered to create uniform micro-porosity, it enhances implant surface morphology for better osseointegration and natural cell adhesion.

Unlike conventional grit-blast abrasives, MCD Apatitic Abrasive leaves no residual abrasive as an embedded contaminant, ensuring a clean, residue-free surface following passivation.

Himed offers micro-abrasive blasting using MCD via our MATRIX MCD® and MATRIX Dual® processes, and we sell MCD as a raw material in a variety of granule sizes.
