Baseball U Programs
Baseball U programs are comprehensive programs designed to develop a high school players skills to play at the next level of competition. The organization will be taking both advanced players as well as players that might need more work in certain areas than others. Both types of players will benefit from a developmental practice program held at different facilities during various times over the summer and fall in 2008. The travel teams will be taking quality players, play against excellent competition, and compete in some of the top college and pro facilities around the country. Successful college programs require hard work and dedication. Our program is modeled in the same fashion. These experiences provided will familiarize future college players with what lies ahead of them in years to come. Opportunities come and go. It’s being prepared to capitalize on that opportunity when it does arrive that will make the difference in one’s college career. It is our goal to help you capitalize on that opportunity.

Asbury Park Press All Shore Honors 13 Baseball U Players
6 Baseball U players were honored by the Asbury Park Press and received First Team All Shore honors. The amazing part of it is that they will have another year in high school to add to their athletic accolades.

Leading the First Team All Shore team was Pat Light. Pat had a terrific year on the mound and finished 11-0. Others selected to the First Team were Connor Smith (St Rose), Kevin Needham (Jackson M), Chris Bresnahan (St Rose), Steve Nyisztor (TR North) and Steven McSherry (CBA).

Baseball U would also like to acknowledge 7 other members that were selected to either 2nd or 3rd Team All Shore. Those players are Ryan Harvey (Manalapan), JD Melendez (Matawan), CJ Pratt (Monmouth Regional), Tom Higgins (RBC), Dan Avella (CBA), Ethan Jackson (Colts Neck) and Chris Hueth (St Rose).

Ryan Kresky also attended the winter workouts this past year and was selected to 3rd team all shore.

The Baseball U family would like to congratulate all of the players who received the honors and showing what hard work can do if you apply yourself.

In Baseball U’s second eligible draft the team recorded five players selected in the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. With two players selected last year that makes a total of seven players selected in two years.

Those selected in the draft were Mike Dennhardt (Seattle Mariners), Keith Landers (Baltimore Orioles), Scott McGough (Pittsburgh Pirates), Richard O’Donald (Seattle Mariners) and Sean Nolin(Milwaukee Brewers). The Baseball U family would like to congratulate these players and their families on being selected.

REMEMBER THE NAME!!
I always tell players when they play for Baseball U while you may not want to play down south or get recruited by a southern coach it is about challenging your skills and rubbing shoulders with the next Derek Jeter or Jake Peavy.
Last year while our Prospects team won our bracket in the 17U division we moved on to a loaded playoff bracket. In our final game at the East Cobb Complex we played a team called the Atlanta Blue Jays. They jumped out early to a 5-1 lead. The team came back and lost a hard fought 6-5 game. The Blue Jays had a player that had something special. He had that extra hop in his step. His first at bat he laced a single stole second and third. He was only 1-1 in the game but did add two walks as well. He took pre inning throws each inning as if it were the 9th inning of game seven in the MLB World Series. I had no idea who this young man was. After the game I wanted to have him sign a few balls. I shook his hand and said you are the best shortstop I have ever seen.

We had our team meeting after the game with parents standing by. We spoke about our tournament and what a great job I thought they did. I told them “Remember that shortstops name! Remember the name.” A player then said “Coach, What is his Name?” I look around and responded “I don’t know”. We all laughed.

Later that week I found out who that young man was and we took batting practice at the same time with him in Jupiter in Florida in the cages. I jumped in and took a few swings and he was in the next cage at the same time stopped and replied “Go Big Man! Go” We spoke and told him how I thought he was the next Jose Reyes. He told me thanks. Looking back at it now I might have insulted him.

This player today will be one of the top players taken in the MLB Draft. This player is Tim Beckham who played shortstop for the Atlanta Jays and was Aflac player of the game this year out in California. One thing is for sure; I and all the Baseball U players out at East Cobb that afternoon will remember the name.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?
Do you believe in Magic? One person who does is founder of Magic Sports Ron Nametko. Mr Nametko had a dream and has followed it and now his dream is becoming a reality and everyone is going to benefit from his dream. Magic Sports will be a one of a kind complex located in South Jersey. It will revolutionize sports in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic region and open up doors never thought possible for all sports in our area.
The Magic Sports complex will have multiple locations that will be able to house national sporting events.

There will be twelve 60’ x 90’ baseball fields with 4 of them having field turf. The gem of the complex will be the 10 million dollar stadium that will house some great events including various championship events for college and high school.

Softball – 12 fields able to host top flight softball events.

The Magic Arena is a 300 x 500 foot air structure (largest in United States) that will house 4,000 permanent seats complete with a 200 meter indoor track complete with two 8 lane starting shoots. The facility will be able to have indoor games for soccer, field hockey, baseball, softball and any other sport you could think of.

The Magic Vine is a 285,000 square foot building that will have a 3,500 square foot restaurant along with a 1,000 square foot coffee house. The building will give athletes a year round sports training facility along with health center. The Magic Vine will have three 94’ x 50’ hardwood basketball courts along with a 30,000 square foot baseball and softball training center as well as an open field turf area of 275’ x 360’ clear span area for all sports workouts. The complex will also have a 1,000 room condo hotel and a 1,000 square foot indoor water park for all of the Magic Guests.

I (John Wells) have been asked to oversee the sports operations and run baseball for Magic Sports. It is an honor to help Mr. Nametko with his dream and look forward to doing so. This opportunity for me only broadens those involved with Baseball U in the near future. When people hear the name Magic Sports they will know it as one of the finest sports facilities in the world.

U Players In 2008 Will All Have Skillshow A.C.T.
Baseball U travels to more showcase events than any other northeast program. This again will be the same next year with the team attending more than seventeen tournaments and having 24 teams entered in those events.
Every player has his short list of schools he would like to attend. Baseball U starting in the summer of 2008 will make it a reality for every player to be watched by those coaches on his short list as well as those coaches who noticed the player at one of the events he has attended.
Baseball U will have every player in its organization become a part of Skillshow/BaseballWebTV next year. Skillsshow/BaseballWebTV can be found at most perfect game events and the normal charge to be filmed is $395. Baseball U is providing this service at no additional charge. The Skillshow A.C.T. System will enable every player to have their own website with the Baseball U Showcase video for all the college coaches to view. A player will be filmed in 60, fielding, throwing, hitting and pitching. All a player’s academic information as well as athletic accolades can be updated daily. All a player has to do is email a college coach and the coach can have a player’s information along with the video at his fingertips. The Baseball U website will have the URL for the college coaches of every player so they can find all information and watch the video.
Baseball U will continue to give as much exposure opportunity to its players on all levels while improving their game to play at the next level of play. For those interested in becoming a “U” player you can fill out a Prospective Player information sheet found on the left hand side of the website.
To find out more about Skillshow/BaseballWebTV you can click on the Skillshow icon.
