Please support the fight to find a cure!

As you are all aware, for the last couple of years, the Baumann Memorial Tournament has benefited the Dr. Gertrude Barber Foundation. We have been proud to have been a part of supporting this great organization. The Barber Center does a wonderful job with it’s clients, and we wish them continued success.
As with all facets of life though, change is always imminent!
The organizational committee for the 16th Annual Baumann Memorial Fastpitch tournament is pleased to announce the beneficiary of this years proceeds will be the Northwestern PA Ahlzeimers Association.
We have teamed up with longtime Erie Times News sports columnist, reporter, and softball enthusiast Jim Camp, who has been leading fundraiser events in the Erie area for the Ahlzeimers Association for several years now. Jim leads his team in the annual Memory Walk, and has raised thousands of dollars to help find a cure for ahlzeimers. We are looking forward to our partnership, and hope that you will support Jim’s team in raising funds for the cure of ahlzeimers. Please take a minute to go to the Memory Walk link to see some of the great things that are going on in the fight for a cure.

George Baumann - Leaving a Fast Pitch Legacy!

It is an honor to bring some of the best fastpitch softball teams to the Wronek and Brutcher Fields of Erie, Pa to participate in the George Baumann Memorial Tournament.

George, or “The Colonel,” as he was known to many of his friends, was an avid softball fan and he followed his team faithfully. He was a regular spectator at most Carpetowne games; and, win or lose, he was usually found after those games in the Right Field Corner Watering Hole, treating his team to a drink or two...or three.

George was always proud of the fine character and sportsmanship that his team always displayed on and off the field.

A very proud moment for him was in March of 1981, when he was inducted into Pennsylvania’s Softball Hall of Fame, as an Outstanding Sponsor. He has also been honored several times by the City of Erie for his involvement with the youth sports programs and his sponsorship of several adult sports teams.

This year will be the 16th year of holding the tournament in his honor. George's legacy is carried on through his son Bruce Baumann, who proudly brings the tournament to Erie each year. Please join us this year, and see why the best fastpitch softball in the country is brought to Erie, PA every Memorial Day.
