The defending Shenango Valley Champions the West Middlesex Pee-wees fell to the Sharon Colts 12-0 in the title game. Last year the Reds victimized the colts in the title game 26-0 at Thiel's Alumni Stadium. The Big Reds Midgets fell 35-0 to the unbeaten Reynolds Raiders in the Shenango Valley Football League Championship. Both squads finished the season 7-3. We would like to congratulate both squads on making it to the title games. They have nothing to be ashamed of and everything to be proud of. Congratulations to the coaching staff of both squads aswell. We recognize all of your hard work. Job well done!!!!

BIG REDS RUMBLE OVER VALLEY 54-18
At Conneautville, the Big Reds racked up 54 points on their way to clinching their sixth success of the year. Senior running back Kyle Allen rushed for 232 yards and 6 Touchdowns to set a school single-season rushing record with 1,533. He surpassed the 1990 record of R.J. Bowers (1,395). Allen scored on runs of 26, 35, 10, 4, 15 and 60 yards. Nate Ash score from 1 yard out and Saylor from 6-yards out for the Big Reds (4-4,6-4). Saylor finished with 141 yards on 11 carries. Chupak was 4-of-7 in extra points and Tyler Powell caught a 2-point conversion pass from Wimer.

MERCER 48 BIG REDS 20!
At Mercer, it was all Mustangs as they compiled 514 yards of total offense led by both Rawlins Huntley's 14 carry 184 yard 2 TD performance and Terrence Davis's 22 carry 162 yard 2 TD performance. The bright spot for the Big Reds was Mark Saylor's 7 carry 78 yard 1 TD heroics and his 84 yard Kickoff return for a touchdown aswell as Ryan Chupak's 2 catches for 71 yards and 1 TD performance. Defensively Kyle Allen pilfered an Andrew Erdos pass and finished with 73 yards on 21 carries offensively.

LINESVILLE 34 WEST MIDDLESEX 19
At West Middlesex, the Big Reds were over-whelmed on Senior Night by the duo of Trevor Litwiler and Doug Farley. Litwiler rushed 21 times for 164 yards and 4 touchdowns on scoring runs of 35,1,1 and 15 yards. Farley gained 137 yards on 23 carries and hit paydirt on a 7 yard run.In the second quarter the Big Reds were trailing 14-6 with 25 seconds left before the half when the referees made a huge clock error. The Lions were on the Big Reds 11 yard line with no timeouts remaining and just 25 ticks on the clock. The Lions ran a play and got to the Big Reds 8 yard line and when the play was whistled over their was 25 ticks left on the clock. The clock never even ran for a whole play and the refs never ran the time off the clock. Those seconds would prove to haunt the Big Reds later on. The Lions got two more attempts to score before the half in which they did with 2 ticks left and took a 20-6 half time lead into the locker-room. The Big Reds would fight back in the second half as they cut the Lions led to 8 when Kyle Allen hit paydirt on a 6 yard run. Now one could only speculate that this score would have tied the game or made it a 14-13 game with the XP being good and the correct time being run off the clock before the half. The truth of the matter is that it didn't and the Lions took advantage. In the fourth frame Linesville would gain a 27-12 lead for a short while until the Big Reds struck back on an Allen 1 yard plunge to cut the lead back to 8. With under 4 minutes to go in the game the Lions would gain control when Trevor Litwiler scampered for a 15 yard TD run to secure a two score lead as the Lions held on to knock of the Big Reds 34-19.

Allen surpassed the 1,000 yard mark on the season and stands at 1,139 yards on 115 attempts, including 14 TD. In addition to Allen, QuarterBack Kyle Wimer showed alot of poise and toughness throughout the first half scoring on a 49 yard scamper and throwing for another when he threw a 13 yard strike to Ryan Chupak in the back of the endzone in the first quarter. Wimer was taken out late in the first half do to illness.Nate Ash grounded out 55 hard earned yards along with a 3yard TD burst and Mark Saylor ran for another 46 as the Big Reds picked up another Region 1-A victory. At West Middlesex, the Steelers spoiled the Big Reds homecoming with a stellar performance. The Steelers took a 20-0 lead into half-time and never looked back as they added 16 more points in the third quarter. The lone shinning moment for the Big Reds offense came on a 4th and 10 from the Farrell 20 yard line when Kyle Wimer hit Jon Jansco in the back of the endzone for a touchdown. Ryan Chupak booted the extra point true and the Big Reds cut the lead to 29 in the fourth but it was to late for the Big Reds to make any comeback. Offensively Kyle Allen rushed 12 times for 117 yards and Nate Ash blasted his way carrying the ball 17 times for 50 yards. The Big Reds (2-2,4-2) will travel to Kennedy Catholic (1-4,1-5) this saturday for the second Back Yard Brawl of the season!

The Big Reds fell behind early, 13-7 but cruised the rest of the way in the second half. The Big Reds were lead offensively by Nate Ash's 14 carry 92 yard performance. Kyle Allen and Mark Saylor scored a pair of TDs for the Big Red Machine. Allen scored on runs of 15 and 10 yards while Saylor came up big on a 82 yard kickoff return and a 15 yard scoring sprint. Ryan Chupak was a perfect 5-5 in PAT kicks. Defensivley for the Big Reds Ryan Benson scored on a 29 yard fumble return and Logan Mihalcak picked off a Miller pass. Also for the Big Reds (1-1, 3-1) Nate Ash reeled off 100 yards on 14 carries and a score along with Mark Saylor's 5 carry 117 yard 2 TD performance. Kyle Allen scored on runs of 31, 84, and 8 yards. Saylor added a pair of TDs on runs of 19 and 75 yards and Nate Ash scored on a 10-yard run. The Big Reds kicking game was stellar behind Ryan Chupak's perfect 6-of-6 PAT performance and by booting a 25 yard field goal to dot all of the Big Reds drives.

Defensively Jon Jansco and Logan Mihalcak each pilfered a pass. James Gearhart registered a sack for an 8 yard loss and JJ Rodgers recovered a fumble.

BLUE DEVILS EDGE WM 20-18
At West Middlesex, the Sharpsville Blue Devils rallied from a 18-14 deficit in the fourth quarter to edge West Middlesex 20-18 in the 12th Annual Back Yard Brawl. It seemed to be dajavou all over again from last year as the Big Reds began the game the same way. With a false start on the first offensive play and then a 79 yard TD run by Allen on the second play from scrimmage it was like seeing the start of the 07 game all over again. Chupak's kick was wide right and the Big Reds went up 6-0 just like that. The Blue Devils battled back and secured a 14-6 lead at the half on Marcus Llewellyn's 16- and 40- yard 2nd quarter scoring sprints.

In the 3rd Quarter with 52 seconds left Nate Ash found the endzone on a 25 yard TD burst to shorten the Devils lead to 14-12. The 2pt conversion was no good.
In the Fourth frame the devils punter Dwayne Odem was tackled on a botched snap by Kyle Beck and JJ Rodgers that gave the Big Reds posession at the Blue Devils 28 yard line. Six plays and 3:39 seconds later Wimer found Ryan Chupak in the corner of the endzone for a 21 yard TD toss that gave the Big Reds a 18-14 lead with 7:06 sec to go in the game. When the devils got the ball back they converted on a 3-and-7 pass play from Joseph to Taylor from their own 46 which was a drive sustaining 10yard gain. That third down play was a backbreaker. We were misaligned and didn't have them covered. I tried to call a timeout, but I was too late, "McElhaney admitted. The Blue Devils put together an 8 play 57 yard drive that was capped off by a Taylor 3yard burst to take the lead 20-18 and what would eventually be the game winner. WM moved the ball from their own 39 to Sharpsville's 46, but Wime's 4th and 15 pass to Mark Saylor came up 4inches short. The Blue Devils then were able to run out the clock and secure the win.

~RUSHING HIGHLIGHTS~ Kyle Allen 16 carries 139 yards 1 TD
Nate Ash 11 Carries 95 yards 1 TD

~PASSING/RECEIVING HIGHLIGHTS~ Wimer to Chupak for a 21 yard TD toss.

THE BIG RED!
There is a history of a remarkable fighting machine known officially as the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division, and unofficially as the "Big Red One". The "BIG RED" was considered by many to be America's Premier Army division, and with good reason.

The BIG RED was engaged in some of the hardest fighting. There were battles with names that seared themselves into the consciousness of Americans for generations to come.

The 1st Infantry Division was not just the best damned division in the United States Army, but in any army in the world. Therefore, once the U.S. entered World War II, big things were expected from the BIG RED.

CARRY ON THE TRADITION!

The Big Reds bounced right back scoring on a 1-yard run bu Nate Ash and a 67-yard TD run by Allen. Chupak went 2-for-2 in PAT'S to give the Big Reds a 27-19 lead at the half.

In the 2nd half both teams were held scoreless and the Big Reds offense converted a 4th-and-1 play under 2-minutes left in the game to ensure the victory. The Big Reds hang on to go 2-0 on the season.

After the ensuing kickoff the Big Reds were forced to punt from there own 40 yard line when the snap was fumbled and union recovered at the Big Reds 25 yard line. The Big Reds defense stepped up when Logan Mihalcak picked of a Pelto pass in the endzone and returned it 14 yards to secure the first half lead.

In the 3rd quarter- Union scored on a 35 yrd TD pass from Pelto to #2. Pelto's QB sweep to the left was good for the 2pt convertion which brought the score to 21-20.

In the 4th quarter- the Big Reds finally got back on the board when Allen scored on a 10 yard run up the middle with 2:31 remaining. Chupak's PAT was blocked.
