Final honors for 08 season
The following Bluejackets have been named to the Section 7AAA All-Section team for 2008: Tyler Swanson, Joe Ramberg, Mike Valentyn, Sam Solberg, and Mitch Dunbar.
Legion Season comes to an abrupt end
The legion team lost its two games on Thursday August 7th and bowed out of the state tournament. The team was beaten 12-3 by the St. Cloud 76ers in the first game. The team was hampered by some uncharacteristic miscues which St. Cloud captialized on. In the second game, the local post fell behind big early against North St. Paul who had two future Gophers at shortstop and second base. Eventually, the comeback kids climbed back to take the lead at 8-7 heading into the bottom of the 8th after Tyler Swanson and Mitch Dunbar had each left the yard in seperate innnings. North St. Paul tied the game in the 8th and won the game with a walk off two out single in the 9th. The season ends with an impressive 25-8 record. Congrats to the coaches and the players on a great summer.
Redbirds place fourth at State!
The Isanti Redbird season came to an end over Labor Day weekend as the Birds dropped 2 out of their final three games. On Friday August 29th they lost an 11 inning affair to Sauk Rapids 7-6. They came back tough on Saturday and beat St. Patrick 9-7. The season ended on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to Fergus Falls on Sunday. The Birds placed fourth in the state. Congrats to manager Steve Allen and all former Bluejackets on the squad for an awesome season!!!
Legion Team Advances to state in convincing fashion!
With two wins, over thirty hits, and 28 runs the Post #290 baseball team advances to next week's state tournament to be hosted in the Burnsville area. The team beat St. Francis 12-0 and Buffalo in the Championship 16-9 to advance for the second consecutive season. Cambridge will check in at 1:30 in Bloomington on Wednesday August 6th. They will attend the banquet held for all teams at 6:00 on Wednesday night. They will face the runner-up from District 6, the St. Cloud 76ers who are 15-14 overall at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday August 7th in Prior Lake. Either way the team will play again on Thursday either vs. North St. Paul or Apple Valley/Eagan. If they win they play at 7:30 in Prior Lake, if they do not win, they will play at 4:00 in Prior Lake. Go Post #290!!!
Legion Team Takes out Brooms and Advances to Districts
District 10 Tournament Bracket
The legion team swept Braham with 16-6 and 11-9 wins to advance to the District Tournament in Howard Lake on Thursday July 31, 2008. Post #290 will take on the 4th seeded team from Wright County and Mississippi 8 Conference Foe, Monticello at Noon on Thursday. They will also play at 6:00 in Howard Lake vs. St. Michael regardless of the outcome of the first game. One team will advance to the State Tournament starting on August 7th in Burnsville. Tyler Swanson Named to All-State Team
The Minnesota State High School Bases Coaches Association just released its All-State Baseball Team. Tyler Swanson, two year starter at second base, was the lone representative selected for this honor from Cambridge-Isanti and from the Mississippi 8. Swanson becomes the 18th player in school history to receive this honor, 7th player since 1999. Congratulations to Tyler, he was a two time All-Conference Selection, a two-time Best Defensive Player award winner. Tyler hit .352 this spring and had a fielding percentage of .949(74 chances).

VFW Season Ends
The VFW had its great summer season come to a close on Saturday July 26th when they suffered defeat at the hands of Blaine 2-1. Blaine scored in the bottom of the 7th to win the game. Congratulations to Coach Brian Schultz, his assistant Jerad Goldsmith, and the entire team on a great summer of baseball.

Ramberg, Dunbar represent CI well in Chaska
Joe Ramberg and Mitch Dunbar played integral roles in leading the North to a 2-1 series record against stars from the South, Metro West, and Metro East. Ramberg played right field, first base, and pitched three innings vs. South. Dunbar played centerfield and was used as a courtesy runner during the tournament as well. North surprised Metro West on Friday night winning 7-3, lost to Metro East on Saturday morning 11-4, and beat South on Saturday 14-8. Joe and Mitch did an excellent job of representing themselves, our communities, our school, and our program. Congratulations and great work Joe and Mitch!!!
Ramberg is 2nd team all-metro, selected to East vs. West All-Star Game
Joe Ramberg, adding to his list of accomplishments, was selected by the Star Tribune as a second team all-metro pitcher. Additionally, the Star Tribune, other media outlets, and area coaches selected Joe to represent the Bluejackets at the East vs. West All-Star Game to be played at Midway Stadium in St. Paul sponsored by the St. Paul Saints and Channel 45. The game will be played at 7:00 p.m. on Friday June 27, 2008. Joe is the first Bluejacket in school history to be selected for this event since its inception. This event will be televised on Channel 45 at 7:00 p.m., tune in and watch Joe represent our baseball program, our school, and our communities! Congratulations and good luck Joe!
Jackets are Section 7AAA Academic Champs
The Bluejackets not only had success on the field this spring, but in the classroom as they captured the Section 7AAA Academic Team Championship. Additionally, Mitch Dunbar, Mike Valentyn, and Joe Ramberg were named to the All-State All-Academic Team by the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association. Congratulations to all!!!

Record setting season
The Jackets set school records for regular season wins, tied a record with wins overall, and set the school record for best winning percentage in a season. Not only were team records set, many of the members of this team will be cemented in Bluejacket baseball history with their names in the record book for individual achievements. Check back for that document to be posted soon. Quite an amazing season. Great work to all who were involved.
