2006 Highlights
June 16-19 Had a very good start to the Kenosha classic winning our first two games in convincing fashion and almost playing error free baseball up until the last inning in the second game, clinching a pass to the quarterfinals. On Saturday using exactly 9 players and trying to save some arms we used our 2nd base men to pitch against the White Sox Acamdemy 17's in a losing effort 14-2. In the quarterfinals on a rainy cold Sunday the Cougars played the White Sox Academy 18's in the top of the 5th the rain became to come down hard forcing the umps and officials to cancel the game and tournament.
June 23-25 After a convincing victory over Elite Force in 5 innings it seemed like we were on our way to a tournament championship but in the second game the Cougars ran into the Waukegan Bulldogs which had other ideas and put up a fight till the last out of the 10th inning coming out with a victory after numerous errors on the Cougars behalf. In the third and fourth game the Cougars just did not show up to play making errors and not giving there pitchers any run support ending the tournament with one win.
June 30- July 2 Stars & Strikes South Bend, Indiana there will be teams from all over the midwest at this tournament.
July 14-16 USSSA Diamond Classic Ypsilanti, Michigan. After being rained out on friday the Cougars came out swinging on saturday morning outscoring the Xtreme(OH)Yankees and Rochester(MI)Yankees 22-1 in 9 innings combined. The Cougars could not seem to get a hit on Sunday against the defending champs Michigan Dodgers ending the tournament with a 2-1 record.
July 23- August 3 The tour of Mexico started off good winning our first three games including a win against a very powerful Mexican All-star team of the state of Zacatecas winning that game 10-7 in front of a capacity crowd at El Estadio de Zacatecas. Our next couple games were not good ones dropping two due to food posining, Fatigue from 4-5 hour bus rides to and from games and injuries. The last two games after a day of rest were better coming back with all the starters we won the last two games of our tour. Thanks to Jaime Rodriguez for putting together this great tour and show us a whole different world of baseball outside of the US
