47 units, 362 scouts, virtually all doing two or more courses, and 111 paid
adults orienteered for a total of 473 orienteers. The
pre-paid numbers were 79 units, 706 scouts, 155 adults, and 861 total, which would have been the highest since 1994,
including 8 Girl Scout units and four Venture Crews.
Before dividing into the raw score above, “#
of pairs” is adjusted to factor the % of older vs. younger, & drops the
lowest score or two for larger troops. (Our policy is to encourage troops to
bring as many scouts as possible, experienced or not!) Ten or more scouts are required in order to
win the top troop award (as noted in the rules), but troops with <10 are
listed above too; many did quite well on the Score Orienteering, as you can see.
We were able to read and score everything that was turned in once it dried out! …realizing that some punch boxes had turned to mush and weren’t even turned in.….Sorry about that, and sorry that we ran out of extra zip lock bags late in the event (for those that forgot, remember our request that you bring your own next time to protect the maps (they’re the same exact paper as always….non-waterproof))……and next time I’ll remember to suggest that everyone punc
