Al graduated from Findlay High School 1989. He coached wrestling at Findlay from 1990 to 1992. He came to the Dayton area and coached at Van Buren JH from 1993 to 1994. He was an assitant coach at C-J High School from 1999 to 2005. He was one of the main workout partners and coaches for C-J's only Ohio state wrestling champion.
