Mal Close

Assistant Coach

Mallory Close has coached in FSLAX for the past 4 seasons and has worked with all levels, from DEVO through high school. Mallory graduated from Urbana HS where she was a 4 year letter winner in lacrosse and field hockey. In Lacrosse she earned honors as an Academic All-American, 1st team MVAL conference, 2nd team All County and served as a team captain her senior year. She was also a part of the first ever Frederick County team to win a state semifinal game and proceed to the state championship. Mallory was a 5 years member of FSLAX, where she earned 2nd team All Galaxy and was on one of the most successful FSLAX teams in 2007. In Field Hockey, Mallory played goalie and earned honorable mention in the MVAL.

Coach Close continued her athletic and academic career at Wagner College, a NCAA Division I team in the NEC conference. Having played attack up until arriving at Wagner, her team needed defenders and she switched to Defense her freshman year, then midfield the following year. From these experiences, she has knowledge of all aspects of the game.

Mallory earned her Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Wagner, and currently works at the Pharmacy at Wegmans. She is also the JV Lacrosse Coach at Oakdale HS. Mallory is working on furthering her education to become a pharmacist.
