Dear Parents,
Welcome to Hudson Youth Baseball. We are looking forward to an exciting season with you and your child. Hopefully, we will all have a fun, rewarding experience. Please read this letter carefully as it contains important information about the upcoming season.
Please check the league web site www.hudsonyouthbaseball.com frequently for important dates and information during the season.
The head coach will provide you with specific team information via email or phone call. Please communicate a change of email address or phone number to the head coach and league secretary; their email addresses are on the web site.
Our goal is for every team to play two games per week for a total of fourteen games. There will be one weekday game and one game on Sunday. All games will be played at Lions and Greeley field. There will not be any games played over Memorial Day weekend.
Practices will be held on Saturdays at Greeley field. Head coaches will notify their teams once they receive their practice times. At this point the earliest date we will start practice will be April 6.
The following are the rules and regulations to be adhered to throughout the season:
Attendance
1. Players are expected to attend all practices and games unless they are sick, injured or academic activities take priority. Please notify the coach at least one hour before a practice or game if your child can not attend.
2. Players should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of a practice and 30 minutes prior to the start of a game. Excessive absence or tardiness, excused or not, may result in reduced playing time.
3. For the protection and safety of each player, at least one parent or guardian must be present at all times during practices and games.
Equipment
1. All players must wear a protective cup and supporter to all practices and games.
2. All players are expected to have their own gloves, cleats and baseball pants.
3. HYB will issue a game shirt and a hat to each player.
4. HYB will provide each team with catcher’s equipment, bats and helmets.
5. All personal equipment should be marked to identify the owner. Coaches will turn in any personal equipment left at the fields to the Lions Field concession stand.
Medical
1. Communicate any medical or safety issue to the head coach immediately.
2. Coaches are not permitted to perform routine medical testing or dispense medication to any player. Only a parent or guardian may perform these duties.
3. Please be sure the head coach is aware of any physical handicap or learning disability your child may have prior to the first practice. This information will be held in strict confidence.
Nutrition
It is highly recommended your child bring a bottle of water or Gatorade to every practice and game. It is very important players maintain proper hydration at all times, especially on hot, sunny days.
Player Conduct
1. Un-sportsman like conduct and disrespectful acts such as bullying, threatening, fighting, teasing, swearing, etc. will not be tolerated. If a player engages in such behavior then he or she may be subject to suspension or expulsion from the league.
2. Jewelry is prohibited on the playing field unless for religious or medical reasons.
Parent/Fan Conduct
1. Be respectful of all coaches, players, umpires and other parents/fans. It is important that we as adults set a good example of appropriate behavior for our children.
NOTE: There is a ZERO TOLERANCE for parent/fan conduct.
• No arguing balls & strikes or umpire calls
• No intimidation of umpires will be allowed
• No standing behind the fence of home plate or vicinity to try to determine your opinion of balls & strikes.
* No arguing or derogatory comments will be allowed toward the opposing Manager or Umpires.
Failure to adhere to the Zero Tolerance policy will result in your removal from the field. You will also risk your player being suspended or removed from the league.
2. If you are not part of the coaching staff, then you are not allowed on the field except in the case of a medical emergency involving your child. Or unless the Manager specifically asks for help.
3. If you have an issue with a player or coach, please speak to the Manager privately and he/she will try to resolve the issue.
4. PARENTS CHEER and COACHES COACH. Please do not coach from the stands. The Manager is responsible for teaching your child the fundamentals of baseball and when parents/fans yell instructions from the stands it can be confusing to a player as to what he/she should be doing.
Concessions:
1. Our concession stand is an important source of revenue for our program. Therefore it will be mandatory that the home team open and operate the concession stand during every game and clean and close the stand after the game. This means that each team will be responsible for concessions for a total of 7 regular season games.
2. Each head coach will be asking for volunteers to man the concession stand for their home games.
In closing, together we can make this season a great experience for our children. We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and for giving your child the opportunity to play baseball.
Sincerely,
Shawn Brown
