| Shetland League Information |

Children ages 5-6. This league uses a RIF ball and a T-ball batting tee. This league focuses totally on instruction of beginning players. There will be a 5 run limit in each inning. A batter is allowed 6 swings to hit the ball, regardless of whether or not contact has been made. A regulation game will be 4 innings, but no regulation inning (1-4) may be started after 50 minutes. The game must end at 1 hour and 5 minutes. Shetland will have 10 Players in the field during regular season and end of season tournament play. All players bat whether they play in the field or not. No leading off or stealing of bases is allowed. Games can end in a tie. There is a mandatory two inning defensive play rule that is to be adhered to unless there is an injury to a player or if for disciplinary reasons a player is pulled from the game. All substitutes must enter the game every other inning so that the player's interest is maintained. In addition, each team member must play an infield position (pitcher, first base, second base, third base or shortstop) at least one inning of each game. There will be no protest committee and the umpire's final decision will stand. There is a mandatory slide rule at home plate when the player covering at home has the ball in his/her possession or there is a play at home plate. Failure of the runner to attempt to slide may result in the ejection of that runner for the remainder of the game. Maximum of 5 coaches allowed on the field at any time.
