Welcome to Saratoga Pony/Colt/Palomino Baseball
What is Saratoga Pony/Colt/Palomino Baseball?
Saratoga Pony/Colt/Palomino Baseball (SPCPB) is designed to serve boys and girls from the ages of 13 to 19 who wish to play REAL BASEBALL. We are a chartered league of PONY Baseball, Inc. This international organization was formed in 1954 to provide guidance to the thousands (!) of leagues that exist around the world. SPCPB is a non-profit organization which is operated by people who volunteer their time. We are not affiliated with the Cities of Sunnyvale or Cupertino, their Recreation Departments, or any other local organization. Our financial support comes entirely from registration fees, donations, and team sponsorships. We do NOT utilize mandatory fund-raising campaigns, e.g., NO candy-sales! We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship of inter-locked play with Los Altos/Mountain View Pony Baseball.
The vision of the Board of Directors of Saratoga Pony/Colt/Palomino Baseball is to establish a strong organization which provides the high quality Pony/Colt/Palomino Baseball experience for the youth in our communities. If you share our vision and want to help make it become real, we invite you to become an active participant in our expanded program as a Player, Coach, Supportive-Parent,Team Sponsor (either Business or Family), or Board Member.
What are the SPCPB division structures?
Descriptions of the SPCPB Divisions
We participate to learn and enjoy the game of baseball, to make new friends, to have fun, to learn how to cooperate within a team sport, and even to learn how to accept failure and defeat.
Coed teams are formed in age-based divisions, practices begin in early March, and EVERYBODY PLAYS REAL BASEBALL!
PONY Spring training/tryouts will be scheduled for start in late January at Congress Springs Park in Saratoga.
Steel Cleats are permitted for all levels of play.
PONY DIVISION
(ages 13-14)
Continues to introduce the maturing players to the complete game of baseball. The diamond is extended to 80 feet and the pitching mound is 54 feet (distances which are better suited to the players’ developing arms than the full 90 foot diamond). With a 20+ game season, teams from SPCPB participate in an inter-locked league with teams from the Los Altos/Mountain View and Fremont Pony Baseball. Team Coaches "draft" players based on tryout results. Each player receives the use of a full baseball uniform.
COLT DIVISION
(ages 15-16)
Provides players an opportunity to play regulation baseball. Players will be selected based on roster openings and tryout results (fee refunds are given to unselected players). SPCPB participates in an inter-locked league with teams from other leagues around the South Bay. Our practice and home field will likely be the Prospecxt High School softball field. An 18+ game season starts after the end of the high-school season in mid-May and concludes by early July. Each player receives the use of a full baseball uniform. This season starts after High School Baseball is complete.
PALOMINO DIVISION
(ages 17-19)
Provides players an opportunity to play regulation baseball. Players will be selected based on roster openings and tryout results (fee refunds are given to unselected players). SPCPB players form teams which participate in an inter-locked league with teams from other leagues around the Bay Area. An 18+ game season starts after the end of the high-school season in mid-May and concludes by early July. Each player receives the use of a full baseball uniform. This season starts after High School Baseball is complete.
The end of the regular season is the beginning of an opportunity for some of our players to play in post-season tournaments as all-stars. Anyone can be an all-star player. The selection is ba |
