| Minor American (9/10) Information |

Minors is for players aged 9 and 10. All players in this age group will participate in tryouts (mid-February, see calendar for details). Coaches will observe the tryouts, along with independent observers.
Following tryouts, the pre-selected coaches for the Minors National division will draft their teams from the entire pool of 9 and 10 year olds. After the Minor National teams are formed, the Minor American coaches will draft their teams from the players not selected for Minor National teams. All players who register will be placed on a team.
The purpose of the tryouts and the draft process is to achieve balance among the teams. The purpose of having a "National" division and an "American" division is to create environments that best cater to the various skill levels and expectations of the participants.
Players from Minor American teams have the opportunity to participate in the District 11 "(City") Tournament in June, at the end of the WHLL regular season. |
