R.C. Sweeps Oak Grove
July 19, 2008
R.C. Dupont thumped Oak Grove 13 to 2 in the 1st game of a doubleheader.
Cory Tierney had a triple in the losing cause. Dain Thorpe tossed a 2 hitter
with 11 strikeouts in the 5 inning game. Mike Matthews and Greg Rostick
each collected 3 hits in the game. Matthews with 4 rbi's and Rostick with
3 rbi's and 2 doubles. Matthews and Rostick also each scored 3 runs.
B.J. Suiter chipped in with 2 hits and 2 rbi's.
In the second game Angelo Rodriguez held the Aviators at bay until the
bottom of the 7th inning. Oak Grove led 5 to 3 at that point on the
strong pitching of Rodriguez and his 2 hits including a 2 run home run
in the 3rd inning. John Longo also collected 2 hits for Oak Grove.
Will Stratton fired a 6 hitter with 11 strikeouts but his command was not
as sharp as normal. He battled and got stronger after Oak Groves 3
run fourth inning. He held them scoreless over the final 4 frames including
the 1 extra inning. Once R.C. tied the game in regulation, he seemed
possessed as he pitched a 8 pitch 8th inning.
R.C. came in and immediately Mike Matthews lined a double to the gap
but was thrown out on a great relay by John Longo from the center
fielder. This did not stop R.C. as Kip Skibicki lined a single and Greg
Rostick drew a walk after fouling off several pitches. This provided
B.J. Suiter with the opportunity to deliver the game winning hit pass
3 base for the doubleheader sweep.
This was R.C. DuPont 5 doubleheader on the season and they have
won all five of them. This is truly a unusual thing to see this occur.
R.C. is now 15 and 6 and headed into the divisional championship
game on Thursday versus Del Vets at Friends High School. They
play a non division game on Tuesday against the Middletown
Firehawks at Everett Field in Smyrna.
Saturday DH 11 A.M. Start!
Reminder 11 a.m. game start.
Be at field by 10 a.m. for BP!
Bring all uniform jerseys.
Remind Familys we need $ donation
for Saturday Food/Beverages.
P.S. You will be getting a new
Warmup jersey and it will be our
"Motto" to the very end of the
season. This means we plays as
hard as we can to the last pitch,
the last out, of the last game.
WE ARE TEAM DUPONT!!!!!!
Matthews shuts down Newark 8 to 2
Mike Matthews shutdown Newark 8 to 2.
Pitching a 4 hitter with 3 walks and 3
strikeouts and only 80 pitches in the
game and 1 earned run.
Brian Manalo had 3 hits 2 run scored and
1 rbi. Kyle Podgajny has 2 hits and 1
run and 1 rbi. R.C. played great defense
and Matthews kept the hard hitting Newark
offense off balance at the plate. B.J.
Suiter called and caught a great game and
also was credit with 2 runs scored and 1
hit on the night.
Divisonal Championship is still Possible!
The following scenerio will clinch the Divisional
Title for R.C. DuPont.
Win the Oak Grove DH and win the single game with
Del Vets. If then our record is the same as Del Vets,
based on 3 out of 4 we would win the division. It
is still a long way off and we need to focus on 1 win
at a time.
Only Del Vets or us can win the division, unless Del Vets
loses all remaining divisional games and we were to lose
to Post 1, then it is possible P1 could win the division.
It is totally in our hands, win the above three and we
will be atleast the 3 rd seed. Win less than that specific
3 and we can land anywhere from 4 to 8. This is as long
as we have no forfiets. Forfiets cost you a -3 points in
the standings and 3 or more forfiets keep you out of the
playoffs. This is why we need formal committment to the
game schedule. Especially for next weekend..........
Saturday Double header time change
The Elsmere Oak Grove vs R.C. Dupont dh
will start at 11 a.m. this Saturday. The
games are moved up one hours to help with
heat and to get home sooner and be able to
move on and enjoy your evening.
Remember 11 A.M. start be at field by 10 a.m.
Both team will be fed pizza and drinks between
games. Joe Podgajny will take your family
$ donations towards the meal. Thank you.
Rc 10 Oak Grove 7
R.c. bounces Oak Grove 10 to 7. Refer to
game results for additional details.
Another Key week of Divisional Baseball for R.C.
We play conference foe Elsmere Oak Grove 3 times
this week. Tuesday at Stanton Jr. High. and a
double header at home on Saturday. In between we
have a thursday night matchup with the hard hitting
Newark team. This could be a pivotal week for our
team in our quest for an automatic birth in the
playoff and a chance at the Divisional Title.
P1 clips Rc 4 to 2
Post 1 came from behind to nip R.C. in a
conference battle. See game results for details.
R.C. wins 2 out of 3 (Fri/Sat)
Check out the game line scored.
R.C. lost to Boyertown on Friday and
then bounced back to sweep a double header
from Milford. Kip Skibicki hit 3 homeruns
over the 3 games and had 10 rbi's to go with
it. Review the game line scores for more
details. Will Stratton improved to 3 - 1 on
the year.
News Flash information
Thursday's game is cancelled due to a urgent problem
for Delaware Post 1. The game is rescheduled for
Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 5 p.m. @ BHS.
Saturday's Doubleheader is moved up to 11 A.M. start
at the request of Milford, due to a problem they have
later in the day. Be at the field by 10:15 a.m.
Parents need to turn in money for the help of feeding the
teams pizza and beverages at the field between games.
Give the money to Joe P. or Joe Manalo.
Friday night we leave BHS at 4:30 sharp! There is no margin
for error on departure time. Bring all your jerseys with you.
We cannot have anymore players report off, our number is low
at 11-13 players. I am disappointed at people blowing this
off on short notice. This is happening to frequent. Please
communicate in a more timely matter. We need people to be
serious about this program. Not casual and play when I feel
like it. If you committ to play then honor the schedule.
Thanks Don Kimsey
RC Bombs VFW 14 to 0
Great pitching and power hitting were the answer in this
victory for the Aviators. Refer to the game results for
more details on the game. The win was our 9th and was our
1st shut out of the season 14 to 0.
Big Week for the Aviators!
This is a big week for our team. We can
create some space between our team in the
standings and with other teams outside our
division. If we do not get one of the two
divisional spots for the tournament, then
we need to beat the teams outside our
division and teams currently below us.
Tuesday lets beat VFW and we have them 2-0
in head to head competion.
Thursday lets beat Post 1 and we would lead
them 2-1 in divisional play.
Friday lets have a good showing against
Boyertown, Bears. They are currently 30-1
on the season. We will depart from BHS on
Friday at 4:30 p.m. sharp!
Saturday lets beat Milford or atleast split
with them in our 2 game set. We have won all
of our doubleheaders to date, so lets keep that
trend alive. They are well below us in the
standings so a split should be our minimum goal.
We will feed both teams between games, so please
make a $donation to Joe Podgajny to help feed and
refresh the teams. A big job by many is made small!
8 teams make the state tournament, so there will be
2 at large entries from the remaining six teams that
don't qualify from the divisional placement. I still
see us as a contender for 1 of the 2 divisional spots.
We can control our own destiny with all 3 of our
divisional opponents.
Currently 2 to 1 vs Del Vets. 1 to go!
Currently 1 to 0 vs Oak Grove. 3 to go!
Currently 1 to 1 vs DE Post 1. 2 to go!
Lets keep it in our own hands, we are a team, and we
win and lose as a team. We do not want to depend on
others or the umpires.
Motto: Remember when we have 2 strikes on us - swing
the bat at anything close. Don't leave it in the
Umpires hands.
Motto: Walks usually turn into runs. Limit them!
Errors usually turn into runs. Limit them!
"If you don't have the play - eat the ball!"
"Get the sure out and when possible split the"
"runners, keep the forceout in place."
"Ball, Base, and Backup!"
Stahl bombs the Aviators 12 to 6
Errors were mostly the factor in this loss.
R.C. needs to get better at fielding and throwing
the ball. Routine plays not made and walks and
other miscues resulted in this loss.
Next game is Tuesday at Glasgow vs. VFW.
Stratton wins versus P1
Will Stratton was the pitching star. Kip Skibicki was the hitting
star with 2 homeruns. This was a big and pivotal division win for
R.C. Aviators or Post 1.
See the game results for more details.

Question: What team will win the regular season in Am. Legion in 2008?
This poll question came out as R.C. Dupont the victor
on winning the regular season. Do you think it is a
omen, fate, lucky wishing, or the fact that probably
more R.C. players stuffed the ballot box?
Check out the lastest poll and future ones to come.
Its fun, its easy, and all just part of the game.
My pick was Newark - Coach Kimsey
My pick for R.C. wins is 16 - 17.
Heat Stress
Through the next week we need to drink alot of
fluids and keep ourselves as fresh as possible.
The heat index will be over 100 and make sure
you drink way more fluids then you even think
you need. Bring a small cooler with some ice
and wet towels will also be beneficial.
The heat got several of our players and even the
umpires this past Saturday. Please be guarded
against the heat.
I want to thank Bob Stevens and Bob Hempton for
the good job they did umpiring our games this
past Saturday. A special thanks to Joe Podganjy
for all he did for the team with coolers, tents,
water and arranging the food between games.
Baseball the Game "My Coaching Motto"
Baseball the Game - is special. Yes, it is America's
Past time. Yes it is a team sport. Yes it is a way
to meet other people and too development new and lasting
relationships. Remember these few thoughts!
We step between the lines and play as hard as we can
for the duration.
We play as a team and win and lose as a team.
We will look back well after our younger days and dream
of yesterday. We too will dream of tommorrow as we see
the young kids that resemble the players we once were.
We may be leading them the same way some of our parents
or coaches lead us to the front line of competition.
Always respect your teammates, umpires, your opponent,
the fans, your coaches, parents, friends, and most
importantly yourself. Have pride in what you say and
do both on and off the field. Respect is earned not
something that is just given to you. RESPECT is worth
its weight in GOLD! "To thyne ownself be true".
My one final thought:
"Perfect Practice Makes the Game routine".
Play ball and have a fun and safe season!
Your coach and cheerleader,
Don Kimsey
