| Our practices will cover both basic and advanced wrestling technique. Some of the basic skills that will be taught and reinforced during our practices are stance, motion, level changes, penetration, lifting, back step, back arch, and turns. We also stress sportsmanship and academics as areas of importance for our wrestlers. In order to practice and compete with the club you must have a USA wrestling card. USA Wrestling cards can be purchased on line from TheMat.com
Bear Claw coaches will be at some local, regional and national events. We will be at all state level Freestyle and Greco events. We encourage parents to get a USA wrestling coach’s card so you will be able to help work with your children and other wrestlers from the club at practice and events. You must have a USA coach’s card to coach your child at an event or at practice.
Club members will be expected to follow the coaching staffs’ instruction. Club members that are not behaving appropriately will be warned and corrected. If the inappropriate behavior continues the wrestler will be asked to leave the club practice or event. Basically, the same rules that apply while in school apply while working with the Bear Claw Club.
Practice Times and Events Spring session sign ups and open mat February 27th 5:30-7 A Tahoma Middle School
Check the website calendar for practice and event times and locations. Generally, practices will be Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 for all wrestlers. We use both Tahoma Middle School gym and the Tahoma Sr. High AUX gym. All wrestlers must submit a copy of their USA Wrestling card and a signed registration form before practicing. • Our club will be hosting two tournaments this year and we will need athlete and parent help to ensure the events run smoothly. We will be hosting the South County Scuffle March 10th and the Bear Claw Greco Up, Up, and Away 4/21. • Our club will be hosting technique clinics this season. We are currently working to bring in staff from the Olympic training center like last year. These clinics are for Bear Claw Club members only and are free of charge. Dates of clinic TBA.

| sorry if this a stupid question but is a person required to be in a wrestlers corner during an event ? example high school coach must be present before wrestling starts . I ask because if a bear claw coach isnt presnt at an event I know nothing about techniques and probably would hurt Brandon more than help being in his corner .( better I sit in the stands and keep my mouth shut ) .

| a coach is not required to be in the corner. If one of the BC coaches is tied up on another mat, we usualy have the kids grab a friend to help corner them. Local freestlye toruneys are informal and a coach is not a required to to well.
If you get a usa coaches card you will be able to be on the mat to help brandon out at practice and in any local tournaments.
