To become an Eagle Scout you need to Advance in your Boy Scout Handbook, work on Merit Badges and complete your Eagle Project.

The first important element is Advancement. Advancement is the when a new scout meets all the requirements, in his handbook, for becoming a Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star*, Life, Eagle and then Eagle Palms.

Merit Badges are the second element that a boy scout needs to reach becoming an Eagle Scout. *Note: it is not until he reaches Star that they are part of the advancement process.

The third element, to reach Eagle, is completing an approved Eagle Scout Project.
