For those who are not aware of it, due to not attending the rules meetings or failure to read the rules, in 2012 the PONY League has made it a rule in girls softball that a team only has to have 8 players present to start a game. If you start a game with 8 players, you must finish the game with 8 players and it is not necessary to take an out for the 9th player. If additional players show up after the game has started they must be used as subs.

If you play a game with 8 and for some reason you lose one of those 8, the game must be forfeited at that time. Keep in mind that this rule only pertains to girls softball.

In boys baseball, a team must have 9 players present to start a game. The game can finish with 8 players if one of the players becomes ill or is hurt. An out must be taken each time the player in the absent position is supposed to bat. If the 9th player is ejected from the game and there are no subs, the game cannot be played with 8 players and becomes a forfeit.

T-Ball teams only need 7 players to start a game. If at any time the number of players drops below 7, the game is a forfeit.

Major league boys teams, 14u Girls, and 18u Girls may draft up from a lower league to have enough players to play a game. Any player drafted up may play unlimited games per week in the level drafted in to and must have written permission from his/her parents and manager. The player drafted up must be one year from the level drafted in to and can play any position except for pitcher. The drafted up player will wear his/her original teams uniform. The manager must disclose the name of the draft up player to the opposing manager and the umpire before the game begins. No players may be drafted up after a game begins.

Major Boys- May only draft up League age 9 Year old boys from the Minor League.

14-Under Girls- May only draft up League Age 10 year old girls from the 10-under league and
18-Under Girls- May only draft up League Age 14 year old girls from the 14-Under league. The league age of each player is listed on the team rosters on the website. Under no circumstance will players be permitted to be drafted across to another team in the same age group.
