Jones wins it for 'cats on a walk off single.
This game was a back and forth affair, ending on a walk-off single by Ben Jones in the bottom of the 9th. The Mudcats scored in the 1st on a SF by David White, but the Wizards came back with 3 in the 3rd on a Devaughn Wallace double, Derek Martinez SF, and Teo Pazos single. But the Mudcats come right back in the bottom of frame three as Zac Halloran hits a long, 2-run bomb. In the 5th, Wizards David Odud drives in run number 4 with a big 2-out single to give the Wiz a 4-3 lead. This stayed the score until the bottom of the 8th as Wizards starter Martinez was holding back the tough Mudcats offense. In the 8th Adam Tuszinski walked, Dave Becker was hit by a pitch and then with 2 outs Michael Green hit a line drive just off of the second baseman's glove to plate 2 runs and give the Mudcats a 5-4 lead. The tough Wizards came right back in the top of the 9th as Zac Handy led of by getting hit by the pitch, Wallace followed with a walk and then Martinez singled in the tying run. From there, 'cats reliever White got tough and did not allow any more runs. That set the stage for the bottom of the 9th, as Halloran walked took 2nd on an overthrow, went to 3rd on a single by Jamil Mamdani and then scored on the Jones walk off.
