Ridley Edges Radnor 3-2
In a taut pitchers duel, Ridley edged Radnor 3-2.
Nursing a 1-0 lead after an unearned run in the 3rd inning, Ridley got a big two out two RBI ground single in the sixth inning to extend it's lead to 3-0. Earlier in the inning, left fielder Sophia Royle threw to catcher Cate Remphrey for a big tag out at home plate to save a run.
After battling all day against Ridley's hard throwing pitcher, Radnor finally rallied in the 7th and came close to pulling off the win. Carolyn Eckstein and Sydney Aljian both burned down the 1B line to get on base leading off the inning. With two outs and the runners on 2nd and 3rd, Audrey Rosenblum battled through an 8 pitch at bat before doubling to left center to bring the Raiders within a run. Pinch hitter Emily Madden had another good at bat before hitting a sharp grounder unfortunately right at the 1B to end the game.
Brooke Nicander pitched a complete game in dueling the Ridley ace. Brooke allowed 8 hits, but worked around base runners in every inning allowing only 2 earned runs to give Radnor a chance.
Radnor returns to the diamond today to face Harriton away.
