Garnet Edges Radnor 3-1 in Well Played Effort

Radnor played a very good softball game today but got edged by Garnet Valley 3-1.

After Garnet took a 1-0 in the bottom of the first, with the bases still loaded and one out, Sarah Rosenblum made a strong catch of a line drive and threw to 2B to double up the runner to allow Radnor to escape with no further damage. A walk and a two out double added to Garnet's lead in the 2nd inning, but pitcher Brooke Nicander got stronger as the game went on.

Sophomore Sophia Royle led off the 3rd with a double to the left field fence, and came around to score on Audrey Rosenblum's RBI single. After Audrey stole second base, Garnet got out of the inning when Sarah Rosenblum's hard shot up the middle deflected off the pitcher right to the second baseman. So the score was 2-1 after three innings.

Unfortunately Garnet added an unearned run in the 4th inning. And Radnor had several hard hit balls that were right at Garnet fielders and they made all the plays. So GV held on for a tight 3-1 win.

Audrey was on base all three times by going 2-2 with a hit by pitch, and she stole two bases in addition to her RBI. Cate Remphrey had two line singles to left field, and Sophia had the big double and scored Radnor's only run.

Brooke finished strong in the circle, allowing only 3 hits, striking out 3 and pitching around 7 walks, 3 of which were quasi intentional of the GV clean up hitter.

Sarah Rosenblum and Grace Moore both made some outstanding plays in the field, and Micaela Myers came off the bench to make three good plays in a couple of innings of work at 3B. RAdnor falls to 4-4 overall, 3-3 in the Central League.
