Welcome Back Brooke! Nicander Leads Radnor to 1-0 Win!
Brooke Nicander pitched a complete game 2 hitter, shutting out Springfield 1-0. In addition to the 2 hits, Brooke scattered 4 walks, and pitched out of a runners on 2nd and 3rd no outs situation in the 4th inning. Brooke got stronger as the game went on, facing only 10 hitters in the last three innings and giving up only one hit while closing out the win for the Raiders. Brooke induced 13 ground outs and 3 pop outs to the infield, as Sydney Aljian (2b) and Quinn Tobias (3b) each had 5 assists and SS Audrey Rosenblum contributed 3 assists.
With the game tied at 0, Emily Madden pinch hit leading off the bottom of the 6th in her first varsity at bat and promptly singled. With pinch runner Sophia Royle on second base and two outs, Cate Remphrey doubled down the left field line to drive in the game's only run. Great jobs by Emily and Sophia in their offensive debuts for the Radnor varsity, and a huge two out hit by Cate to win the game.
It is Radnor's first win over Springfield since winning the 2014 District 1 title over the Cougars. The Raiders move to 2-0 on the young season.
