Pitching, Hit Batter Key to Senators Victory
Paul Texiera and Jack Ryan were bigly on the mound and Travis Reeds HBP and Dave Roberts like stolen base gave the Senators a 3-2 walk off victory. Texiera, starting his first game of the season pitched 5 solid innings scattering 5 hits ahile giving up 2 runs(1 earned). Although it was Tex's first start this season it may be his last as he will be headed to Germany to pitch for the Senators sister city in Hamburg. Ryan picked up the win in relief with two shut out innings. It was a back and forth well played game by both teams that looked destined for extra innings until Reed was drilled in the leg with a curve ball with one out in the 7th. Reed then picked out the right pitch to steal on and cruised into 2nd with a stolen base. After a strikeout for the 2nd out of the inning Nasief Husman lined a shot of the third baseman's leg that would ricochet half way across the infield. The third baseman would recover quickly in an effort to throw out Husman but his throw sailed right of the first baseman and Reed jogged home with the winning run.
