Devils top Avalanche in shoootout.
The Devils took advantage of a 4 goal 3rd period to defeat the Avalanche in a shootout. Josh Wallace scored twice in the opening period and Kenny Glass added one of his own to give the Avalanche an early 3-0 lead. Mike Campanaro scored for the Devils before the period ended to narrow the lead to 3-1 after the 1st period. The teams each scored a pair of goals (Tim Dougherty, Tim Perham - Devils ; Wallace, Eddie Jensen ; Avalanche) in the 2nd and the Avalanche held a 5-3 lead heading into the final period. Perham, Campanaro and Jay Gagliardo scored 3 early goals in the period to give the Devils their first lead of the game. It did not last long as Wallace scored his 4th goal of the game midway through the period. Gagliardo struck again with under 4 minutes left in regulation, before Wallace netted his game high 5th goal of the game to send it into overtime. No team could find the back of the net in overtime and the teams headed to a shootout. Tim Perham scored the lone goal in the shootout and Matt Wentworth stopped all 3 Avalanche shooters to give the Devils the victory.
