Despite having played the previous matches through a tremendous downpour, the Mitchel Field Complex had play suspended by Nassau County at 3:00pm just ten minutes into the scoreless match between the Commack Blasters and Stonybrook Hornets.

The tournament committee considered ruling that all of the unplayed preliminary round matches would be draws (which would have pushed Commack to the semi-finals), but without the field access for the semi-final games, the exercise was left unfinished.

Therefore, the Blasters finished the Covanta Cup with a record of 1W-0L-1T (4 points) for the second highest point total in the tournament.
