Defense Rebounds, Offense Connects in Second Day Victory

Sunshine and hot weather continued into Day Two of the 2007 PDA Girls College Showcase as the Blasters returned to Rutgers University to play the Canadian team in the group, the Brams United Storm. An eighth minute goal from Carly was the difference as the defensive unit held strong in recording a 1-0 clean sheet victory, a virtual must-win situation to return to next year's PDA event.

From the outset, the Blasters offense was pressuring the Brams defensive team. Carly's goal game from a Katie crossing header that eluded the keeper's grab. The defensive core of Alyssa, Jen, LB, and Rebecca kept the Brams forwards away from Sara for the most-part. Liz and Carly were starting in the midfield flanked by Meredith and Brooke with Amanda coming in from the bench to also give control in the central midfield. Diane provided relief minutes for Katie and Saulty on top which helped extend our legs in the second half. Two incredible saves in the second stanza punctuated an exceptional game for Sara in keeper.

Everyone available pitched in with positions and minutes in this game.
