The Commack Blasters traveled by road and ferry to participate in their final GU/16 tournament of the season, the Fifteenth Annual South County Seaside Classic at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. This tournament marked the first time that the Blasters played in the Rhode Island area and their opening match was a winning one, 1-0, over the RAMS FC Fortuna. Weather was exceptionally warm with temperatures in the middle eighties despite the Newport area sea breezes.

Commack had first half tremendous pressure, but could not cash in for a goal. Ashley had her goal called off in minute twelve as Carly was flagged for being in an off-side position on a ball that popped out from the box. In the twentieth minute, Commack changed from a 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3 with Ashley and Carly being joined by LB on top. Defensively, Jen, Gina, Saulty, and Alyssa were holding the back line while Katie, Meghan, and Meredith were across the midfield. Literally one minute later, Ashley's cross to LB just missed the net on the left post. With only three minutes remaining, Liz now in the midfield poked a perfect ball to Ashley one more time that was smothered by the RAMS FC keeper.

Second stanza action saw a thirteenth minute penalty kick awarded to Commack on a hard foul against an offensively minded Liz. Ashley's PK attempt was saved but just one minute later, the Blasters finally broke through as Carly's cross was volleyed one-time into the net by Ashley for a 1-0 lead. Stephanie Speirs, guest playing with Commack in this spot, recorded the clean sheet in goal handling relatively few opportunities in this match.
