Consolation Draw Against Merged Sachem/Stonybrook Squad

Following a group play record of 1W-2L-0T (3 points) in the 2007 NEWSS Cup Flight, the Commack Blasters returned to play the third place team from our flight crossover, the Sachem Blazers (0W-1L-2T, 2 points), in the fourth and final match of the weekend.

The Sachem Blazers have just completed a merger with the Stonybrook Xtreme and will be playing in the Spring 2008 season under the Sachem banner. While Commack has not played Sachem in more than three years, the imported Stonybrook players brought many familiar faces to the field. Played on the Hofstra University Field Hockey Turf Field, the ball was free rolling during most of the match which ended in a 0-0 draw to close the tournament.

Sara recorded the clean sheet in the first half while Stephanie followed that with her own clean sheet in the second stanza.

The Commack Blasters finished the 2007 NEWSS Cup Flight with a record of 1W-2L-1T (4 points) which was good for fifth place in the eight team flight.

Confirmed attending this game were coaches from Iona College, Sacred Heart University, Southeast Louisiana, SUNY/Cortland, and SUNY/Purchase.
