HUDSON ADULT WOMEN’S
SOFTBALL LEAGUE
PLAYERS RULES-2004
a. Games to be played at 6:15
unless scheduled at a different time by the director (ie: makeups, etc.). No
inning shall begin after 7:45. The last inning will be completed, even if the
inning plays beyond 8:00pm. (During the play-offs, all games will be completed,
regardless of the time.)
b. Forfeit time is 15 minutes
after scheduled game time.
c. The Mercy Rule will be used
except in playoffs. The game will be
called when a team is leading by 15 runs or more after 5 innings. There is a 12 run per inning limit, except in
the last inning.
d. Only residents of the Town
of Hudson and employees employed by the Town of Hudson are eligible to
participate. All players from the 2002 season and previous are “grandfathered”
into the league. All registrants from
the 2003 season MUST be Hudson residents. Any of these players who move out of
Hudson in subsequent years will then be ineligible to play in the league.
e. The direct owner of an out
of town business, (who is NOT a resident of Hudson), sponsoring a team in this
league, is eligible to play. If this business owner discontinues sponsorship,
he or she is no longer eligible to play.
f.
Players arriving AFTER the entire line-up has batted will be added to
the end of the line-up. Players may enter the game at any time.
g. Courtesy runners can be used
in a game for a player who can play but can not run. The player will attempt to
get to first base, at which time the player MUST REMAIN at first base. (If
there are other runners on base, they may proceed as many more bases as they
wish.) When play has completed the courtesty runner will substitute at first
base. The CR will be the player who made the last out. The injured player may re-enter the game. Prior
to game time, coaches must notify each other of any players planning to use a
courtesy runner.
h.
Bats with BESR certification softball seal will be authorized. Only ASA approved bats will be allowed. Umpires will be
checking the bats to be used in each game.
i.
Safety bag will be used at first base.
j.
A player or manager that is ejected from the game for any reason is
ineligible to play or manage in his/her team’s next scheduled game. Anyone involved in an altercation and ejected
from a game two times during the season, will be eliminated for the remainder
of the season.
k. A team playing an ineligible
player shall forfeit all games in which that player has participated.
l.
Proper batting order must be given to the umpire, opposing manager and
scorekeeper, including players shirt number, prior to each game. Home team is responsible for the official scorebook. The
date, line-ups for each team, final score and signatures of both umpires must
be recorded. Please return the book to the lock-box after each game.
m. No practice on the field
without director's approval.
n. Home team has first base
dugout. Home team for the first
game of the night is responsible for retrieving bases and official scorebook
from the lock box. Home team for the last game of the evening is
responsible for returning bases and scorebook to the lock box, in addition to
shutting off the lights and locking the gate.
o. Each team must provide the umpire
with a new ball.
p. The coach of the
winning team will call the director at 883-9925 to report results of the game.
Please include any highlights. ( Results may also be e-mailed to mycindyrella@hotmail.com.)
q. If a game is suspended due
to severe weather, the winner will be determined by the score at the bottom of
the last completed inning, provided 5 or more innings have been played. The
game will be rescheduled and will start from the beginning if fewer than five
innings have been completed.
r.
Teams must have 9 players to begin a game. If a team begins with 10 or
more players, the team will forfeit if they fall below 10 players at any time
in the game (except due to injury occuring DURING game). If a team falls below 8 players for any
reason, the team forfeits.
s. Due to the small number of
teams in the women’s league and the minimal number of players, ALL teams and
players will be eligible to participate in the play-offs, regardless of the
number of forfeits or games missed during the season. However, in fairness to
all players, everyone is expected to attend as many games as possible.
t.
THE HOME TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE ALL GATES ARE LOCKED AND LIGHTS
SHUT OFF AFTER THE LAST GAME OF THE EVENING.
FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE HOME TEAM FORFEITING THE NEXT
SCHEDULED GAME.
