GREAT 8 TEAMS DOMINATE
September 10, 2007
22 teams in the 10u age group met to compete in Plantation and once again the results proved how strong the GREAT 8 event was when the top four finishers were all previous Great 8 tourney clubs.
This time the order of finish was
1.FIRE 2.ENFORCERS 3.PANTHERS 4.CANES
The top eight also had additional Great 8 teams such as the Tornadoes and Warriors. In fact the only team that did not make it to the final 8 was the Bullets that did not play and the Dynasty Elite which got knocked out by another Great 8 team.
Congratulations to all.
The Fire went 6-0 enroute to a perfect record. The Fire went 2-0 in pool play to gain a #4 seed after pool and went on to defeat the KINGS and BRAWLERS from Miami ... then knocked out the CANES from Tampa and later put down the ENFORCERS of Miami as well to win the Crown.
Many of these same teams will meet in a few weeks in the Orlando area
challenge known as the HOWL at the MOON Baseball Championship.

UPDATE FROM DOWN SOUTH
July 22, 2007
ENFORCERS WILL THEMSELVES TO CHAMPIONSHIP
The Enforcers of Miami took on all Challengers in the Tamiami Event hosted
by the Dynasty Elite and survived unscathed.
The Enforcers won the 2nd annual Dynasty Elite Summer Slam this weekend. They finished the tournament undefeated at 5 and 0. Two victories (including the championship game) came against their Tamiami arch rivals the Miami Brawlers.
ALL AMERICANS
July 20, 2007
Recently at AAU Nationals in Concord NC the Florida Fire and West Boynton Tornadoes competed for the 10U open base AAU title. Unfortunately for the
two teams they ran into road blocks that kept them from their goal.
The Fire knocked out the Tornadoes 5-0 in the quarter finals just prior to being sent to a 3rd place consolation game by the Virginia Storm in a similar 5-0 score game during the semi-finals.
The results were surprising but the Storm is a candidate for invitation to next years 2008 tourney in Winter Springs along with the Chatanooga Chiefs
that knocked out the Fire in Cooperstown.
Awards earned by 2007 GREAT 8 players were as follows:
TBA - West Boynton Tornadoes
Jason Heinrich - Tampa Canes (Guest Player for the Fire at Nationals)
Braden Rollins - Florida Fire
Luke Schanback - Florida Fire
The Fire were allocated 3 players while the Tornadoes were given just one due to finishing in the 5th or lower spot.
Jason Heinrich was a fitting pick up for the FIRE due to the absence of Hunter Allen and Tucker Israel. Jason pitched as well as hitting .526 and powering 2 Home Runs and 2 Doubles while batting clean-up.
Braden Rollins powered his way onto the All-Tourney team as well with a .400 BA with 2 Home Runs and 4 Doubles.
Luke Schanback got the attention of the Head Coach Ralph Nenna with a solid batting effort hitting .500 from the 8th spot in the lineup collecting 8 total hits with 3 doubles.
At this writting it was not known who made the
All-Tourney team from the West Boynton Tornadoes.
EAST COBB RESULTS
The Great 8 was recently represented in Georgia at the 20 team
EAST COBB - Tournney of Champions. The 4 teams from the Great 8
were: Bullets GOLD , Florida Fire, Tornadoes, and Wellington.
Congratulations to the BULLETS GOLD for their Runner-up finish.
They lost the Championship Game to the TEXAS team out of Houston.

GREAT 8 TEAMS -
Report you recent success to be posted on this page.
In Central Florida:
The Canes of Tampa won the AAU STATE EVENT held recently
11-5 over the Florida Fire in a late night Championship Game.
Congratulations to both teams. The Bullets Gold also placed in
the top 4 as they were knocked out in the semi-finals by the Canes.
The Canes were without Christian Whidden for this event.
The Canes are on a roll as they also captured a Championship win in the
USSSA SUPER NIT recently in Kissimmee, FL. Again the Runner up was the Florida Fire. The Canes are hot! Unfortunately in this event their starting shortstop (C. Whidden ) was injured.
In South Florida:
The Miami Enforcers took the Triple Crown Wellinton title and
Coral Springs won the USSSA
Memorial Day Tourney over Dynasty Elite 5-3 in the finals ...
West Boynton just won the AAU Memorial Day's event and
Wellington Warriors were co-champs in Triple Crown Pembroke Pines that
was called due to a tornado. The Warriors won a local tournament as well.
