My heartfelt appreciation goes out to the players, coaches, parents, and fans who supported us all along. It was a GREAT run! We had a blast! You won the DISTRICT! GO Bayonne! As one of the co-founders of our league which I helped establish in 1998, I am so very proud of each and every player and to the coaches on a job well done. I am also happy for the parents, most of them sacrificing their vacations for the past 6 years while being "loyal" to OUR league, one which tries so hard to give your kids everything they will need to grow on and off the field. To the new families who came aboard this year, congrats and thank you for joining our league and helping us get over the hump. I can remember the days when we struggled to win our first district game. Boy how far we have come!!!. This is a memorable moment not only in Bayonne Cal Ripken history but for Bayonne in general as this is the first state championship ever in the city of Bayonne on a youth baseball level. No better feeling then when you play with kids that you grew up with, went to school with, hung out with, laughed with & cried with all those years.... wearing the uniform with B A Y O N N E across your chest is what it's all about. They make BIG plays, small plays and do all the correct things to keep them a step above the rest. They know where to be when backing up other fielders, they throw the ball to the correct bases, they get BIG hits, small hits and work out walks. These kids are CHAMPIONS in their hearts and minds of themselves as well as us parents. And let us not forget the coaches. Their knowledge and passion for the game has helped get these kids to where they are today. They are true gentlemen who give so much of their time to our kids for the fun of the sport.
