At our EMASS Senior Softball Banquet in Boston, I mentioned to one of our older players who I would see in FLA about the guy who would put new bat grips on my bats during my FLA pickup games. I only knew him as Fast Eddie. He said he hadn't see him in a while but that he's from NJ so I googled Fast Eddie from NJ and your website came up honoring Fast Eddie Basile. I actually started playing senior softball in FLA while on vacation in 2004 when I saw the bright softball lights at night and took in a co-ed game that was umpired by Fast Eddie. In between innings, I asked him if they had senior softball in the area and he told me to come to the park the next morning with my glove and bat and play senior pickup softball. Over the next 5-6 years, Fast Eddie re-gripped most of my bats before returning to Boston. Super great guy and glad to see him being honored. Tony Bova, EMASS Senior Softball - Boston, MA |
