I find it funny that the "parents" with the harshest criticism, never sign their names. One game from State is a pretty great accomplishment for CCLL. Our praise and positive energy should be given to that coaching staff and most importantly the players. Jim Andrews

To “just a parent”, I would agree with you that John (Your reference “the assistant”) is very baseball oriented. John loves the game and the kids. I would also agree that comparative to John I may not be as experienced. However I don’t feel that I have “no experience” as you suggested. Also if you were to ask John, he would tell you that he would rather coach and not take care of all paperwork (atleast that is what he had stated to me). John wants to teach the game and has a wealth of baseball knowledge. With that being said, What you didn’t see or were not aware of was the fact that I created the line ups and player positions a week and a half before any post season game was played. I sent them to John "the assistant" for his thoughts. I also took the time to speak to each of the DAD’s/Coaches whom choose to be involved with the team. Individually they all had the same concepts that I did and we used. The 5 coaches/dad’s never had a confrontational word between us and as the “manager” of the team I took the time to talk with each of them and to better the team using everyones input. I even went to the year’s previous manager to talk to him on his plan for the week’s worth of baseball. We went into the last game with 6 of our 7 pitchers ready to pitch. That in its self is a good management position to be in. Even after the season the 5 of us have talked and the final answer is the game was not lost on a coaching or managing mistake. I don’t see how I was such a failure as you have eluded too. I can go on but really what’s the point. I don’t know who you are or why you have felt the need to attack me personally this late after the post season has ended. I also do not want this to be a forum where we are combative toward one another. This guestbook is designed to be productive as well as informative to the league. It should be a tool to make things better not a rant. My contact info is below... Mike Fettic 671-0259 Mpf7874@charter.net

My son was also on the 9/10 YO All Star team this year. I didn’t see a problem with either the Manager or Coach. I felt they worked well together and their experience was well placed. It must show something that the team played as well as they did. They have to be directed to play in the positions they are in and in my opinion this was well thought out by who I would assume was the coach and manager. What I did feel was disruptive were the disgruntled fathers screaming over the fence. If they are those you feel are more experienced this may be why they were not asked to manage again. If it were up for a public vote I would vote for the same manager and coach team again in the future.

To: "Just a parent," 5 weeks after a VERY successful, competitive and FUN tournament you post this backhanded compliment/dig @ CCLL board and 9-10 YO all star manager? Really? I'm unsure of what result you're expecting, but I'll entertain your question and comment on your opinions. 1st, Happy to hear your 10 year old had a good time. Knowing that confirms a successful and fun tournament which is the priority of CCLL and it's board members. 2nd, Below is the ALL-STAR TEAM MANAGER selection process copied directly from the 2009 CCLL Post Season Teams rules. 1. Prior to the selection of the all star teams, the league president will solicit each major and minor league coaching staff to determine their desires toward participating in All Star managing and coaching duties. All major and minor managers and rostered coaches are eligible to manage or coach. All interested, must submit a request to manage/coach in writing to the league president prior to the board determined deadline. 2. The manager of each tournament team shall be selected by a vote of the Carson City Board of Directors from a list of Managers/Coaches expressing interest in managing duties. 3. The manager of each tournament team shall have the right to select two coaches of his choice, who must have been a manager or coach during the regular season. It is suggested but not required that each All-Star coaching staff have representation from two or more major league teams. The Manager and Coaches of the 11/12 All-Star team must have managed or coached in the major division. 3rd, regarding your opinions, "It seemed that the most qualified manager was the assistant this year and other qualified coaches were not even there. The manager had no experience and as a parent, it was obvious during the all-star games." CCLL board members had different opinions & facts that were discussed, voted upon and implemented. Just wanted to thank you all for a great season. You did a great job. My 10 year old had a good time. I just have one question. How do you select all-star managers. It seemed that the most qualified manager was the assistant this year and other qualified coaches were not even there. The manager had no experience and as a parent, it was obvious during the all-star games. Not a big deal. Just a question. Thanks,

A huge "thank you" needs to go out to Dave Lethcoe, coordinator of our 'support the Reno Aces Day'. It was well worth taking a Saturday off to go have fun at the game. I know our family had a blast! Let's do it again next year.
