Entry ID: 1384760 | I am a baseball fan,supporter and former player. More importantly, I believe in mentoring the youth of the Cheyenne community and finding ways to lead them in the right direction in life thru sports. I believe athletes learn leadership, setting goals and teamwork skills thru playing youth sports. These qualities and skills learned on the playing field, will develop the leaders of tomorrow. This will stay with them and help carry them thru the journey of life.
I am in the process of establishing a "Friends of Baseball Chapter for Cheyenne, Wyoming". "Friends of Baseball" will be a "Non-Profit Organization" that will serve the sole purpose of raising and providing funds for the upgrade and maintenance of Youth Baseball fields and programs throughout Cheyenne.
Once the "Friends of Baseball Wyoming Chapter" has been established, the first "Vision" I would like to start with will be the improvement and upgrade of the "Historic" Pioneer Park Baseball field. The upgrades I will target will be a complete makeover to modernize the snackbar, lighting, dugouts, bleachers and announcers booth. This ball park upgrade will benefit the Senior Babe Ruth Baseball League and the home field of the Cheyenne Grizzlies. I actually hope to establish and present the Cheyenne Community with the "Curt Gowdy Memorial Ball Park" at "Pioneer Park".
I do not plan to stop at Pioneer Park Baseball Field. I would like to target every youth baseball and softball sports program within Cheyenne, one baseball field at a time until every youth program has been upgraded. After Cheyenne has been taken care of I would like to and expand this program Wyoming wide.
I am looking for the Cheyenne Community, Baseball Fans, Coaches, Players and Parents to join me in establishing the "Cheyenne Friends of Baseball Chapter". This task will be a gigantic task to accomplish. I can not do this myself. However, with the assistance of the Cheyenne community, volunteers, and sponsors, we can do this together to truly develop a solid program that will benefit the Cheyenne Community and youth of Cheyenne, not just one select "Non Profit" Baseball Program.
