In 1981, I was a member of the Varsity 1981 Parent Pee-Wee Football team that won the very first championship in football competition that the Ellet program ever saw. We defeated South 16-14 in the championship game. Soon it will be 40 years since that accomplishment was achieved. I would like to see if the Community would welcome us back at some point during the 2021 season. I would also like to see a sign at the football complex at Hyre Park to memorialize the achievement and have our place in the history of the Ellet Youth Football program. Sincerely, Troy Austin 1981 "City Champs" 1981 Snapper Bowl Runner-Up

Why are young girls being demoralized and cut from Cheerleading tryouts? I haven't seen any boys cut from football or basketball at all. Just curious...

I have to comment on the absolute disaster at the Cheer Tryouts yesterday, March 24, 2012. I have rarely seen such a poorly organized and executed event in my life. An event that was scheduled for 1 1/2 hours long wound up taking almost 5 HOURS. All plans for the day were ruined. And to top it all off, my 7 year old daughter in 2nd grade was cut. Needless to say the excitement she felt at trying something new was shattered. What type of human beings does this to young girls? This isn't high school or professional cheer. It isn't even middle school. Any 7 year old who wants to cheer should be able to. My 9 year old son tried out for Ellet Youth Basketball for the first time. They had tryouts, but no one was cut. Each child got to enjoy the sport and experience personal growth according to their skill level. Isn't that what this is all about?

Well,we just got back from Tenn with our varsity football players and cheerleaders. It was a wonderful experience for the kids and myself. The whole crew that went down represented the organization and our town with pride and dignity.I am so proud of our kids, our girls won the cheerleaders competition, but, the boys came up a little short. The boys were hurting inside after the loss and so was I,not for me but for them. They gave it their all and left it on the field. I am so proud of them and remember they are AKRONS CHAMPIONS and always will be,especially in my heart. Thanks to the coaches for their time, patience and the direction they have given to our children.GO RAIDERS!!!
