Entry ID: 1643063 | Play-off game on 6/12/09 5th - 6th grade Muise (1st) vs. Roth (4th). In an action packed nail bitter Team Roth pulled out a big win to advance to the Championship. Team Roth scored 2 runs in the first and Team Muise answered back with 3 runs. It was when Team Roth had a big 3rd inning scoring 5 runs to give them a 6 run lead that seemed like it would be an easy win. But all game Team Muise would not give up, and the game finally ended in the 5th inning on excellent pitching and great defensive plays by Team Roth. Both teams had an outstanding game, all players on the field last night should be proud of their play. They were all winniers. |

It's not always about the winning and Coach Gerard has stressed that all season. He's been teaching the girls fundamentals and sportsmanship all season. The girls are learning a lot and you can see it in there play.

Entry ID: 1613848 | On Monday April 27th in the 5th & 6th grade division, teams Roth & McNeil played each other. It was an action packed game that team McNeil won by a score of 9-4, but don't let the score fool you. In the first inning with team McNeil threatening to score many runs, they had runners on 1st and 3rd base with no outs and one run in. They decided to put on the hit and run play. Their 4th batter hit a soft pop-up to team Roth's second baseman, Alyssa Bernardo she caught the ball and quickly tossed the ball to the first baseman, Victoria Ferrara, getting the base runner at first out. Then realizing that the runner on 3rd still did not get back to the base she tossed the ball to team Roth’s third baseman, Mary Festa, to end the inning with only one run scored. The tripple play was made!!! In the third inning the defense showed with team McNeil’s shortstop knocking down a hard ground ball by Victoria Ferrara, to her left side, keeping her composure she picked the ball up tossed it to the first baseman and just beat the runner. The very next at bat Erin Clesse hits a hard shot straight back to team McNeil’s pitcher she makes a diving stop picks herself up and throw’s out the runner at first. Coach McNeil and I could not believe what a game we just witnessed and were very proud of all the girls on the field. This is the type of progress that we as a league want to see in our girls.
Lastly let me give some kudos to our Umpire, he is one of our new boys who broke into our league last Saturday. He was consistent with his balls and strikes & did not hesitate in making his call. He even moved out from behind the plate to make calls on the bases. I am sure with the help from our coaches and more games under his belt, he can become very good and keep our games exciting.

Entry ID: 1613273 | Great Game last night , Team Mcneill vs Team Roth! The game featured tremendous defense by both teams! Team Roth even turned a triple play! Both teams were awesome, Great job of pitching, hitting and defense! I enjoyed watching...keep up the great work |
