My husband and I have been residents of Millington for the last seven years and have been pleased overall. We see potential here and look forward to bigger and better opportunities. Our son plays T-Ball and loves it. Rain is a disappointment, but looking from the natural scheme of things, rain is a needed factor. Whether the sport begins in April or May, we, as parents, determine the atmosphere we create for him. Weather happens. I have high expectations for the Center and believe they are working for the children. Be as involved as you can and hope that our community continues to grow into something wonderful. We could be somewhere where nothing is offered for our youth. If you see a need, fill the need. Group sports don't substitute times where we can go out and play indoors or outdoors with just our families. Thank you Millington Arts and Recreation. I'm looking forward to maybe even soccer.

We'll our time here in Millington has come to an end. We will be moving to Jacksonville, Florida. We would just like to thank our coaches Richard Oglesby (Memphisloveskids.com) and Lara Smith (Millington School of Dance) for showing our kids the fundamentals and sportsmanship of the game. You guys truly are good people. Although the rain wiped out many of the games, our kid's Alexis and Gavyn had fun when they did get to play. So Richard and Lara Thank you!!! Also thank you Millington Art's and Recreation!!!!!!! The Hamilton Family

The Arts and Recreation does a great job overall with the Baseball program. They have an extremely difficult job in "pleasing everyone." We as a community should be appreciative of the efforts these people put forth. It is extremely easy to second guess or Monday morning quarterback all of their decisions. I truly believe they have our childrens best interest at heart and to me that's all that matters. We are developing young men and they watch ALL of my actions on the field. SO I'm very conscience of how I respond to the parents, Arts and Recreation staff etc. Let's give the people that run our Recreation program the benefit of the doubt, the same way you would want it if You ran the program.

I know we are all frustrated with the rain out games but we can not control mother nature. We have to quit hounding them about these things they can't control. In the end they are going to cut the entire program And I know as much as they drive me crazy they are providing a service to our children. Yes I know we pay to play but you really don't think they make a fortune off of us Do You???? Let them do their job!!!

I know that rain has been a huge problem for the teams this year. However, I called when I received the schedule to make sure that the tournament would begin June 6 as written on the paper. I was told the samething that is written, "Yes, it will be June 6 regardless, but we will attempt to make up as many games as possible". We have booked our vacation and will stand to lose over a thousand dollars if we were to cancel our trip. It really wouldn't bother us for our children to miss a game or two, but my husband coaches and he has to be at the games. I know all of us have paid the money, but we also all read what the rule was for the tournament this year. It just a risk we all took when we paid the money, but it is not a surprise that the tournament is to start on June 6th. I can understand people's frustration, but I hope you stand by the rule that was presented to everyone who signed their child up.

Thank you for your quick response and I agree with going back to the way it was. It was a good idea but 2 years of rainy Mays shows it's better to start later.

Don't bother dealing in rumors. If anyone has any questions at any time, you can e-mail me at markhealy@xipline.com or call me at the office at 873-5770. I will gladly discuss anything at all with you. Children will not be playing every night. We never play Wednesdays or Sundays. We only play doubleheaders when we need to and when teams want to. Some teams (and parents) would rather spend one day at the fields playing 2 games instead of coming on two different days. Some don't want to play doubleheaders and we try to accomodate everyone if possible. We wait until the last possible minute to call games unless it is very obvious that we are not going to play that day or night. I went out at this afternoon and saw standing water on 4 fields and walked through a mud hole the size of a swimming pool at one field and sank further and further with each step. I am as frustrated as everyone else because I want to play too. I have kids that are playing and they ask every day when are we going to get to play again. I tell them as soon as Mother Nature will allow us to. We have tried to start playing baseball a little earlier the past 2 years after complaints about playing when it is too hot and playing too far into July and not leaving enough time for families to take their summer vacations. Other than the problems with rain, playing when it has been 60-70 degrees as opposed to 85-95 has been fantastic. However, we will probably go back to how it was before and families will have to just go ahead and take their vacations when they want to. If it means they miss a week of the season, that is what will have to happen. There will be issues no matter what time of year we start. You just have to choose which ones you want to deal with. I welcome any comments,complaints,suggestions,etc... Mark Healy Sports Coordinator City of Millington

I can appreciate a lot of the rain-out cancellations but why cancel tonight's game? There will not be much time to make up all their games, especially if you have more than one grandchild playing. The children cannot play every night and half of the day every Saturday. So what's the plan? A lot of rumors are going around that there have been problems having enough umpires, not having equipment to grate the fields, to name a couple. I was confused a time or two why the games were cancelled but more so tonight. Why tonight? Because of the economy, it was harder to come up with the money for our kids to play. I hope you have a great plan and unless the fields have puddles on them they need to play ball.

We have just had a bad stretch of rain in the last week. We still have plenty of time for makeups. The best thing about this year's schedule is that we only scheduled one game a night compared to two games a night last year. What that means is you can make up two nights' worth of games on one night. I feel that we will not have any problems making up any games. With that being said, if we continue to have problems with the rain, I am not opposed to pushing the start of the tournament back. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me or call me at the office at 873-5770. Thanks Mark Healy Sports Coordinator City of Millington

I was wondering about all the make up games that we have and the fact that my daughter has only played 1 game for this season so far and that it is already half over. You stated in the new rules that the ternament games will be played reguardless of the make up games being played or not, what about the money that I spent for her to play. Because of the weather and your new rules am I spending my money for nothing? Could somebody please respond and let me know what is going to be done about this. Thanks
