Some news that I wanted to pass on. I spoke to Steve Jones last night and those that know him knows how much he loves to play the game. He spoke to his doctor yesterday and found out his baseball playing days are over. His knees will no longer allow him to play. I feel for him and his loss of being able to play this great game and I am trying to get him out to a few games this year. Just wanted to let everyone know.

Info I want to share with the league..I have sent this to Hawk also...Please do not take any comments as demeaning any current Ideas or Setups the League currently has. This is just my opinion and views. Just wanted to share to anyone who is in the League and cares about making it bigger and better for years to come. Feel Free to contact me via my email with any questions or comments...dfed4192@yahoo.com MY PROPOSAL TO NEW LEAGUE FORMAT IN 2010 In this proposal I will address my reasoning and thinking of why I think this would benefit The League in 2010 and take away from any team possibly being shafted out of possible playoffs Please understand this is a rough draft. If consider I would be willing to come to League Meeting and explain this Idea. American League Division National League Division Mudcats Rays Reds Yankees Colt's A's Knights Ducks Now as you can see My Format is alittle different. I have also flip some teams around per division. Why did I do this? Basically over the years certain teams have been consistent with winning and making the Championship in past years.Mudcats 2010 champs,Colts 2009 Champs and The Reds have been there also in the past. Leaving only one team The Knights who are now finally getting things right with there team. The Rays won the consolation tourney are on the rise,The Yanks been to World Series 3 years in a row,The Ducks prove year in and out to be winners and the A's are a New team. But, have acquired some Yankee players who were key in there past success. If you look at the parity of these teams You can see How the Two Divisions are pretty much even across the board. Now Lets not let this idea steer away from the actual playoff format the Teams in respected Division can be put back the same as before it is just one of the ideas I have. That I think would benefit every team. Keep in mind everyone plays each team 3 times in a 24 game season Being in one or the other division really isn't going to dictate to much the outcome of the season with the parity in our league. What you see is Two Division and No North or South Subdivisions... Now the real question is, How do we as a League make it fair to the teams once the season has ended and to give winning teams the chance to get to and compete for the Championship Scenario 1) Obviously this will be the easiest way. But, could effect one or two teams if one division is stronger than the other what I mean you could have two Division winners who won say 15 games and one or 2 Wild card teams that get in per division with less wins than a team with better record. Example: AL Wins / Lost NL Wins / Lost Mudcats 16 8 Rays 17 7 Reds 13 11 Yankees 16 8 Colt's 12 12 A's 15 9 Knights 10 14 Ducks 12 12 The Two division winners from each Division would be the Mudcats and Rays and the Two Wild card's Would be The Reds and The Yankees.Simple enough. But,Which would leave The A's out of the playoffs because of the division they are in.Which seems to not be right when they have the better record than the Reds which happen to be in the weaker division. How to solve the dilemma.{Keep in mind we play everyone 3 times} One way that this scenario would work is to play everyone in your own division 4 times a year and outside Division 2 times a year. What this does is it creates Division rivalry and makes it more important to win your division games and would super seed the Argument of having a better record than another team in another division and for not making playoffs. Because, you were in stronger division. Also this would help with Double Header Formats. You could have all outside division games played as Double Headers. Making your divisional games more important and keeping pitching and players fresh for important games with in own division. I think this would work and make parity even greater and keeps the idea of MLB style in play for all teams. Obviously ,Tie Breaker format could be in play for Deciding League Champs and Wild Card berth's But, the League By Laws would still be in play. There could be overall winning records with tie implications as well as Wild cards. Also playing a team 4 times in your own division could create ties because You split with the respected team with in your own division. Total Runs Scored from those games or How your overall record verse other division could Be in played to decide that outcome. Many different ways to decide that Rule..Keep in mind the Division winners would play there Divisional winner Wild Card playoff team. Creating a NL/AL Championship series to determine World Series match up. Scenario 2} Same Records as above. But, alittle adjustment. Still have 2 division winners from each league and would play everyone 3 times. What you do is this: Mudcats and Rays would be the divisional winners and The Wild cards would be Yankees and A's. Why? They both have the better Records overall than any other team regardless of division. This makes sense in this format scenario because you play everyone 3 times in the entire league (If league keeps 3 games per team} . That is why I said early playing more games in your own division would make it much more important and would stop any argument about Overall Records and not making playoffs cause you have the better Record than the other League's Wild card winner. Your overall record would only benefit Playoff seeding with in Division because your only playing other teams outside division twice. That is in the Scenario 1# concept. Scenario 3} Same Records as above, Same division Winners. Mudcats and Rays receive birth. Everyone plays each team 3 times. The Wild card would work as followed. The Highest seeded Wild card would get in automatic which would be the Yankees. The Lowest seeded Wild card team The Reds would play The Best team regardless of division not making playoffs in a do or die one game playoffs.(PLAY IN GAME/like NCAA Basketball} Which would be the A's. The winner would then play the Division Champion regardless of league with the Best Overall record. For instants the A's beat the Reds in the play and they would have to play the Rays because they have the best overall record and the mudcats and Yankees would make up the other playoff bracket. I hope this isn't confusing I just want to shed some light on The League. I feel the best way to get any idea on the table is to have a visual feel. Just talking about it doesn't show the whole idea in full. Its like when you look at a rainbow. You see half of it above ground But, actually light passes through the ground Creating a Circle. That is the whole picture. Thanks Dice
