At the end of the day, it's men's rec league, guys. No contracts, no obligations to stay anywhere. Chasing titles or not, guys have a right to play where they please. I understand this fosters disparity in the league, but what are the alternatives? Holding a combine to then draft and re-draft on a yearly basis? Or mapping strict township boarders to dictate who plays where? I've seen more than a handful of guys leave the Sox when Angus had a team - I never begrudged. Loyalty was never a prerequisite and as such never expected in my books.

I count 5 players on the Bolton roster that weren't around for the first 1 or 2 titles, that came from other NDBL teams. I think you need 9 to Field a team

You can join a team and not change the core group. The original comment never said 90% of the roster was from other teams but that they could field a team with guys that weren't originally there for the first one or two titles.

I think you mean 2005. Although, I'm sure that Creemore, Ivy and New Lowell were all involved in those years from 95-05.

Yes, inaccurate statement. Thé core remains the same from All of the titles the Brewers have won, so to say 90% of Boltons roster is made up of championship chasers is in fact, an inaccurate statement. Warden and Chalmers won titles with Ivy before playing in Bolton. And in regards to players leaving teams to go to other teams, there quite possibly could be many other reasons for it other then "chasing" Championships. So instead of assuming you know the reasons, maybe ask those players first

Inaccurate statement? There has only been 4 teams to win the strothers cup since 1995. Creemore New Lowell Ivy and Bolton. Granted the core of Bolton remains the same but since their first or second NDBL title there have been numerous players that have gone to Bolton and none of which came from those three other winning teams that i know of so not sure who won titles elsewhere before going to Bolton. Some have left and went back to their original team and others have stayed or rejoined Bolton when they came back to the NDBL last year.

Well it is beginning again, players jumping ship for a winning team .What really pisses me off is when you take a young player ,work with him for Ithe past couple of years and when he is ready to play up in the senior division leaves for another team .I don't know what angers me more ,the lack of loyalty or the indifference of some teams that have no problem poaching players to remain at the top.

Pretty sure a couple Brewers won championships with other teams as well, so again, inaccurate statement.

The core of the Brewers have been together for all of their championships... OBA and NDBL. So to say the roster is made up of "championship chasers" is inaccurate. And agreed, if players leave to play for another team, who gives a shit.

Your comment is fair. However, just because guys switch to teams that have traditionally been better over the course of the last decade, doesn’t mean they’re chasing championships. Some guys need a change of scenery for a multitude of reasons, not just championships. It can be because of team chemistry, commitment, work, literally anything. If someone has an issue with it, it’s none of anyone’s business to question or be disappointed with someone else’s decision. I’m hoping this doesn’t offend anyone, it’s life, things happen

Looks like Orangeville is making uneducated comments again. If they are saying Gowan was going to leave New Lowell cause they didn't win maybe you should do some research. Usually if someone is chasing a Championship they don't move to a new team who hasn't won in ten years which in both cases Gowan went to Ivy and then after winning went to New Lowell. Both those teams last won the Strothers in 2003 (Ivy) and 2004 (New Lowell). If you're looking for guys chasing championships look at Bolton's roster. They could almost field a team with players that came from other NDBL teams.

Gowan is living in Milton running his landscaping company. He was not playoff eligible last year. Not saying he would've been a difference in the finals cause Bolton is good at pitching around him. However, that is a big offensive piece missing from the New Lowell lineup. He did win a championship playing in the Burlington league last year and swept most hitting and pitching categories. No matter what he does or where he ends up, that team has become significantly better. Don't be mad that winning follows him. Moreso, don't be mad that he isn't playing for your team. I've been privileged to play with him and I'd easily put him in the top 5 best hitters I've ever played with or against.

Gowan only played in 9 games last year for the Knights. Doesn’t mean he’s moving teams but may very well happen
