Hey Hantsport fan are you Joey? and just FYI Joey only had 35 AB's. System seems to work fine enough, all deserving allstars, and i'm sure a few people get missed. Trevor Whynott batted over .400 and plus he was 4-0 pitching with 4 complete game shut outs, which i have never seen before. so he at least deserves an honorable mention.

Matt I believe it's all still the same at this point. Also to the guy making the complaint about Joey Gaudet, I agree 100% that if this awards mean anything to anyone than yeah wiser people need to be doing this or maybe ask for help. It's always been a thing since I've been involved, but on top of that also you have in accurate score keeping all the time. Guys call an error a hit often and I know guys has won awards because of it. It's not a perfect system but it does work for the most part but yeah sometimes a guy gets passed by unfortunately for more than one reason I'm sure.

Wow. Not sure how anyone justifies giving an all-star to a guy with 40 Abs. When makong these call"s team should educate themselves abit better. If your giving one guy an all-star with 40 Abs how the hell do u not gove another guy like Joey Gaudet an all-star outfielder haha. Best outfielder in the league and batted 400. Like come on guys be a little brighter about these calls. Whats the sense in keeping stats if you deciding guys dont go by them. Should be a minimum at bats to rven be considerd in these awards. Not to take anything away from all the guys congrats and ur all good players but just had to rant on this. Lets just be a little smarter about these choices.

agreed you can not base anything on how you finish in the standings. I'm sure its like this for alot of teams, but half the weekends our true team can not commit do to work, etc, but they all commit to provincials. And i've seen teams that finish with a good record because they have one awesome pitcher that throw half of their games. Thats why those teams do not do well in provincials, because the pitcher can not throw half the games.

Hahahaha.. Excuse me for missing all of this, I was out popping my teammates back zits after injecting them with another round of steriods. We had a long weekend chasing balls at Mainaland for Junior nationals. On a more serious note, is it true about two divisions one in hfx and the other in Hantsport with 5 in each?

I don't think rewarding teams based on how they finished the year before is the answer. There's not a lot of time near the end of the season for playoffs with how it's set up now but room was made in between the regular season and prov to have the league tourney every year. You also have teams that have guys missing for most of the regular season but able to compete in the prov. I think this was the case with Pictou a few years back when the prov were hosted in metro. Mediocre regular season followed by a prov title. Hard to base prov participants on regular season finish.

Not bad ideas but what happens if the two teams that were in the final the year before who would get a bye into the provincials are in the bottom of the standings, should they really be rewarded for last years provincials rather than what they are doing this year. just wondering

Yarmouth was an awesome host, too bad they didn't this year, as I'm sure a couple of teams wouldn't want to travel that far

admin, of course it's not only about making money but you don't put on a tourney to lose as well because of the number of teams involved. Yarmouth put on a great tourney last year and I'm glad I was able to come down and watch. Big crowds. And because there were no ball boys lined up for games, one of my sons and friend made a killing. Great rates at the hotel. Only thing your committee did wrong was not cook burgers until they were ordered. It was a long wait for those :)

Hey Chris, I didn't know Hantsport hosted provincials just to make money, I know we made money last year in Yarmouth but only because we had a great committee. It's not about making money to me as much as it is putting on a great tourney. If your hosting so u can make money I think that's a waste of time. There is a shit ton of work that goes into it lots of hours so not sure anyone ever comes out a head when u get down to the nitty gritty. We don't have play downs because we don't have time in our schedule to do so. Metro I'm guessing it's the same, I still say the top 3 from each league is the most simplest way to do it. Or the top 2 teams from each and the finalist te year before get in automatically.

This is a mess. Kudos to the Shamrocks for putting in to host the prov every year since the league has existed. There's not many teams that want the hassle of it or can make money at it. There are a number of players who complain but I'd say a lot are from teams who never put in to host. Hosting 10 teams is a lot to ask and by having games at another location is nothing but a money losing venture. There is no clear answer to all of this. The one thing I don't understand is why there are not play downs. We all did it as kids so why can't players deal with not making it to prov as adults? I just had one son beaten out in bantam districts last weekend, he survived it. One thing that should not be happening is all of the NSIBL teams in one division. One thing is certain, this mess will pop up this time of year next year unless this is worked on starting immediately after the season is over. Good luck to all of the teams in the NSIBL especially my hometown Shamrocks who have had a rough year. It looks like Yarmouth with a lot of vets back playing will be very hard to beat.

Hey Matt that wasn't a dig at you guys or any team particularly. it was only a thought. I think it has to be the top 3 in each league or play downs and well there is no time for us to play play downs as we know. So I think we could only do top 3 teams from each league, how can we say hey You finished 4th but u can go to provincials because the metro league doesn't have 3 strong teams? or it could work the other way around. I do however like the idea of having the two teams that win there respective prov. tourny play a winner take all for a provincial title. I don't think it should be plays past labour day weekend. Why not have the final game on Monday afternoon?

It's never too late to change the format of the tournament. Matt, I have to disagree with finding the '"best" teams in NS. It would be just easier to take the top three from each league. Cut and dry. Who would pick the top six. That would be a hard job where the competion in the leagues may not be the same. Agree that the best should play but to keep it simple. The top three from each league. It may be flawed but it would be better than what we have now

"The proposal form BNS is that we organize a MIBL division and a NSIBL division. Hantsport would host a 5 team tournament on Labour Day weekend, and a MIBL team (possibly Hammonds Plains) would host one in Metro. The Champion of each league would then play a single game championship for the Provincial title at a later date (should not be hard to organize for a single game). I understand teams enjoy playing a variety of teams, but we really have no other option at this point (short of doing a Qualifier, which has not been a popular proposal in the past)" This is straight from BNS. If you're gonna have two divisions just draw the teams randomly. NSIBL division and MIBL division is bs in my opinion.
