To the Steamboat Springs High School Hockey Sailors: I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF LUCK AS YOU HEAD INTO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!! I have had great fun and much joy watching you in Colorado Springs and Metro Denver. I have seen excellent skating, skilled stickhandling, amazing goaltending and inspirational coaching. It has been a pleasure! I will be at the rink at 8:10 on Friday evening yelling by head off and cheering you to VICTORY!!

My compliments on your site! Just one thing, Howelsen Ice Arena is spelled incorrectly. GO SAILORS!

If your first line players aren't getting the job done, you need to put the 3rd and 4th liners in to at least try and prove themselves. Sometimes starters need a a little wake up call or even some inspiration. By feeling that their spot is being threatened or at least being inspired by the hard work of the 4th liners, your starters might remember that you have to earn being on the first line and not take it for granted.

Its so cool to see Steamboat has a hockey team! I learned to play and loved it from 1985-1988. It was at the rodeo grounds and we help build a "new rink" in 1987 I believe. We were called the Utes and had green hand me down jerseys. There was mass problems with the cooling system never working and drove the parks dept crazy. We had a rag tag group of hockey kids led by Jerry Dunn. We only had 2 games I remember playing Craig we beat them like 20-2 and then went to Larime and got beat twice. The rest of the time we just played each other on soft ice/slush. The outdoor NHL game yesterday reminded me of the great times in Steamboat!

Wish there was hockey in Steamboat when I lived there from '77 to '87. We only had the outside rink back then. Good luck next season.
