As a new season approaches my thoughts go toward Wayne. My oldest, JP, has lost interest in baseball after 2nd grade and skipped his third grade year. JP decided to give it a try again in fourth grade and drew Wayne and John as his coaches. Under thier tutelage JP was able to grow at his own pace with patient teaching and no pressure. By the end of the season he was pitching in extra innings in a playoff game. JP has been in love with baseball ever since and it never would have happened without John and Wayne. He is truely missed. I am coaching this year and would love to have even a fraction of the impact on some child that these men had on my boy. Peter Buell

How do I write to you Chris in Heaven... I can not believe after all the years at baseball, softball, and basketball games you will not be sitting next to me this year or years to come. We have had such great times. I loved your expression, "Don't rub it." I actually was buying into it. I though it was good for Thomas to toughen up. Until the day when Thomas got hit in the chest and we both said, "Don't rub it." The next day I wanted to kill you... the stitches of the baseball were perfectly imprinted above Thomas' heart. What laughs.... Thomas loved it when you would say, "what do you say kid". Olivia loved to hear you screaming at a softball or basketball game saying, "swing that hair baby". Your most thoughtful moments to Victoria is when my dad died, and at the wake you told her if she needed anything, even if you had to cook for her, you told her you make a great sauce... we come to find out from Kathy that you didn't even cook! Chris, that act of kindness to someone in need is exactly how to sum you up. You would have gotten the meal to Victoria. You would have asked Kathy... You would have found the perfect bat for a kid, the perfect kind word to lift a kid's spirit, the equipment a team needed. You might not have had it, but you knew how to get it. You were a man of your word, a perfect gentlemen. I loved it when you and Tommy would be laughing and then crying over a joke, you both would be rolling on the ground. Kathy and I thought you both were crazy. You will always be a great friend. Each day going to work, Tommy and I will be passing your final resting place. Know that our prayers each day will be going up to you. We will always look out for your wonderful family. Your memory will always live on. Take care dear friend!

My family has been involved with Wayne in many ways. My son has played for him on travel baseball teams, and CYO basketball teams. Wayne was a great influence on him, and really understood him. He will be sorely missed. As a coach, I always enjoyed playing his teams, as Jimmy and I always got along very well with him. I was especially lucky to be a part of last years travel team. It was a low pressure team, and 5 or 6 of us all helped out. Wayne, Jimmy, Nick, Mike and I had a great time together all season, including our end of year party. A few years back, PAL was looking to get some time 'under the lights' for youth soccer. I contacted Wayne, and , as usual he graciously worked with PAL to share the field with the Broncos. My wife found him an easy person to talk to, and spent a lot of time the past year or so discussing colleges, etc. As time goes by, we will all see the huge presence that Wayne was in our community, and we will miss him even more. He was one of the good guys, that really was in it for the kids.

Wayne was a class act on the ball field. He understood the game was for the kids, not about the coaches. He was not a person who would argue with the umps, and he would walk away at the end of every game with the same easy going demeanor, win or lose. He will be missed down at Seamans Neck Park.

Wayne was a wonderful person who I respected so much! I will always remember the countless hours he gave to my son teaching him baseball and basketball for so many years. It will be so hard not to see him on the field or court. Wayne always wanted the best for the children. My son, Thomas learned so much from Wayne. He was taught early by Wayne to love the game of baseball and basketball. Most importantly, Thomas learned to be a good team member, and respectful to others from Wayne. To earn respect, you had to give respect, and Wayne was a true example of this word. Wayne would always kid around with me for years, as recently as last week. He wanted to know when he was going to get a copy of our boys baseball championship from 2003. Wayne, I promise you I will find the tape, and give a copy to your family. Thank you Wayne for your kindness and friendship. You will never be forgotten!

WAYNE WAS TRULY A GREAT GUY WHO WOULD ALWAYS OFFER HELP TO ME IN RUNNING THIS LEAGUE THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. HE WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR ME AND FOR EVERYONE IN THIS LEAGUE. I WISH EVERYONE COULD HAVE SEEN HOW HE WANTED NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS FOR OUR LEAGUE. THIS PAST SUMMER WE HAD SO MUCH FUN LAUGHING IN THE DUGOUT WHILE WE WOULD BREAK JIMMY ROELLS CHOPS BECAUSE OF A MOVE THAT DIDNT WORK OUT, YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL WAYNE AND NOT FORGOTTEN!!!
