Entry ID: 1705469 | Many of us parents were not aware that we had to attend 3 meetings in order to vote.(I have never seen that posted on the website or maybe I just missed it) By not knowing that, not only do we not get to vote, but it also only allows the "people in the know" to vote. Just a suggestion to perhaps next year place the meeting requirements for voting somewhere on the website. Thanks! ( Apologies if it is on the site prior to voting announcements and I missed it) |

Entry ID: 1665100 | WE WON!!! WE WON!!! THE SUBURBAN NEW CASTLE JUNIOR GIRLS ALL STAR TEAM DEFEATED CANAL TONIGHT 11 TO 0!!! WE ARE THE DISTRICT 2 JUNIOR GIRLS ALL STAR CHAMPIONS!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIRLS, MANAGER, COACHES!
I LOVE BEING A PART OF THIS SUBURBAN LEAGUE FAMILY... THE SUPPORT THAT THESE GIRLS HAD FROM BOTH NEW CASTLE AND SUBURBAN WAS INCREDIBLE. IT REALLY WARMED MY HEART TO SEE ALL OF THE OTHER SUBURBAN/ NEW CASTLE TEAM PLAYERS & THEIR PARENTS, COACHES, MANAGERS (BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL ALIKE) AND BOARD MEMBERS COME OUT TO CHEER ON AND SUPPORT OUR TEAM.
THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT.. OUR CHILDREN AND THE LOVE OF THE GAME. WHAT A WONDERFUL JOB THEY DID TONIGHT!
THE BEST THING (SECOND TO WINNING) WAS SEEING OUR GIRLS CELEBRATING WITH CANAL TEAM AT THE END OF THE GAME WHEN THEY ALL RAN THROUGH THE SPRINKLERS TOGETHER. BOTH TEAMS PLAYED HARD IN A TOUGH SERIES, THEY WON WITH CLASS AND LOST WITH CLASS BUT STILL DEMONSTRATED TRUE SPORTSMANSHIP IN CELEBRATING TOGETHER. YOU SHOULD ALL BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELVES LADIES AS YOU ALL PLAYED A GREAT SERIES! |

Entry ID: 1648579 | I just wanted to write to say how proud I am of the boys and girls of Suburban Little League this year. Especially DPCI and Minor A Phillies. DPCI kicked butt this year and brought the InterLeague Div 2 League Championship back to Suburban. What a great feeling I'm sure it is for the league. Also the Minor A Phillies, coming in 2nd place this year. Thank you also to all the parents who stepped up this year (coaches, asst. coaches, umpires, team moms, official pitch counters), the team and the league couldn't have done it without you. Here's to a great All Star season!! |

Entry ID: 1647697 | Congratulations DPCI!!! Well done!!! Now do they go to Disneyland??? lol Great job!!! Val, you and your coaching staff and of course your "Young Ladies" showed a lot of class, heart, sportsmanship and determination in rising from adversity through a difficult last part of the season. You guys turned that negative into a positive and that is what life is all about. A simple concept, move forward, if you fall off that horse, get back on and ride!!!! Val, "Thank you" for all of your hard work and dedication throughtout this year and years past!!! It's been a great ride and a lot of fun, now it's time to move on to another chapter of our life!!! Bitter sweet and I don't know about you, but I'm tearing up just thinking about it!!! :( On behalf of myself, my coaching staff, parents, grandparents, family, friends and of course our "Young Ladies" ~~~ "CONGRATULATIONS" ~~~ Girls not only "ROCK", they "RULE" :) |

Another volunteer
New Castle June 16, 2009 10:41:49 PM
Entry ID: 1645498 | As a fellow volunteer over the past 3 years , I would like to thank all of the folks that came together to make this season another successful one .The countless hours spent by so many at the field preping and preparing to make things just right for our kids , has been inspiring and satifying for me to be a part of . From the umpires who take our abuse from the stands( yes I heard you !) to the folks in the concession who make our food , to the board members who have done so much behind the scenes that most will never realize , to the managers and coaches that share their time and knowledge to make our kids grow as ball players , to the folks that come out before , after , and during the rain to fix our children's fields at all hours of the day and night so they can get those games in . I can only hope that the returning volunteers from this year and the folks that choose to come out as new ones next year find it as rewarding as I have . Thanks for another great baseball season SLL ! |
Coach June 11, 2009 3:05:40 PM
Entry ID: 1642003 | I would like to say that this year was a good year for SLL. I think Elena, Valerie and the rest of the board was great. I really enjoyed the opening day with the fire company and the other people that showed up. People have to understand that it is not easy stepping up and taking care of things for the league along with their home life. I know it’s not easy being a coach or manager let alone being the president of the league. Maybe next season she can get some help instead of problems. I would defiantly like to see Elena, Valerie and the other board members come back next year because I know next season will be a lot better. |

SLL Board June 1, 2009 11:32:03 AM
Entry ID: 1635077 | Regarding the question about the umpires. The following explains how umpires are assigned.
Umpire in Chief does all the Major Games.
Major Coaches umpire the Minor A games.
Minor A & Minor B Coaches umpire the Minor B games.
When we have scheduling conflicts we fill in where we can. This past weekend the Umpire in Chief was away, so the major umps that were schedule to ump the Minor A games had to work the major games and thus the Minor A coaches had to ump the other Minor A games.
There are other times when all major teams are playing so Minor A coaches might have to umpire Minor A games as well.
The coaches all worked together to ensure the games would be played. Please keep in mind in addition to volunteering to coach, these coaches are also volunteering to ump up to additional 5-10 games.
Several of the coaches and umpires were at the field on Saturday from 9am (getting fields ready after rain on Friday night) and worked until 5pm when the last game was finished.
If anyone in the league knows of anyone that would like to umpire please contact one of the board members directly and we can put that person on the umpire rotation schedule. The league can provide the umpire equipment as well.
We appreciate all the coaches help in ensuring we have umpires for all our games. |
