I just wanted to congratulate East Prospect for their lack of sportsmanship in their play-off game against Hellam Sunday. They had to injure one of Hellams better players to win the game and the series. I am asking that the player that injured Hellams player not be allowed to play in the rest of the playoff games. The League needs to take a stand on these serious issues...! or you are opening a can of worms for more and more serious injuries in the future,....! Also not one of EP players came to the Hellam players side leaving the field. I just want to say...what a class act..(or rather lack of class) EP...!

I have a team picture of the 1939 Susquehanna League Champions (Hallam) with all of the members that are shown on the picture identified by their name. If someone would like to post a copy of it on this website, please contact me and I would be happy to send you a copy as an e-mail attachment.

We have the names of several of the Susquehanna Baseball League fields on the York Township Baseball Club website(i.e. York Township: McWilliams Field, Windsor: Wilmer Neff Field at Laucks Park, Stewartstown: VFW Field, Red Lion: Nitchkey Field, Columbia: Glatfelter Field). We'd would like to have all of the correct field names of your fields (if you have one) so we can use them on the schedule, directions, etc. We need the following field names: Felton, Conrads, Hallam, East Prospect, Jacobus. Thanks. Also, come check out our team website and sign our Guestbook: www.leaguelineup.com/yorktownshipbaseball

I enjoy reading all of the information on both websites of the Central and Susquehanna Leagues. I like looking at the stats of the players of years gone by. I see names that I had forgotten about. York County is rich in having so many really outstanding ball players. I wish we could go back in time when families would come out to the ball parks on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and watch the many great match-ups that were played back in the day. When the players just wanted to do their best and respected the game for what it is. The umpires and players had mutual respect for each other. Nothing was assumed and everyone knew anything could change in a heart beat. A team could be leading 6-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, only to lose 6-7. A batting change here and a pitching change there would and sometimes did make a big difference. Everyone also knew that any team could win on any given night. That is how competitive the leagues once were. And best of all, I like the saying that is posted at Metro Bank Park....."A hot dog at the ball park beats a steak at the Ritz!"

Mark Hendrickson making an unusual pitch to get back to majors! (by Frank Bodani, York Daily Record) GREAT story by Frank Bodani in this morning's York Daily Record. However, to clarify, the Susquehanna Baseball league IS NOT a "rec league" as Mr. Bodani wrote. Far from it. The Susquehanna Baseball League is a very competitive adult, wood bat, baseball league (as is the Central League). Mark Hendrickson grew up as part of the York Township baseball team. First as our batboy, then as a player. We all welcome Mark back to the team. We will support him in every that way we can and we wish him every success in his quest to return to MLB. GOOD LUCK, Mark! http://www.ydr.com/sports/ci_20616200/frank-bodani-mark-hendrickson-plans-unusual-pitch-get

Congratulations to Kirk Reichard for reaching a wonderful milestone last night in getting his 1,000 career hit. I'm quite shocked that his is not mentioned yet on the website. Only 3 others ever have reached this goal?! 25 years in the league is a long time! He is a powerful veteran hitter who is fun to watch. Congratulations Reich!

This is a great web site you've put together. The historical stats give me a chance to bring back some great memories on these snowy days. A great tool for us players from the 60's--70's & 80's. Hats off to Steve Kline!!! Bud McCullough--Loganville--Jacobus--GlenRock
