First off, I'd like to thank you all for a great season. The kindness you've shown to Nate and I has been awesome...he just can't wait to come to the next game to hit and run the bases. Which makes what I'm about to say even tougher! I will no longer be playing for West York Inn, not because I'm injured and or because I lack desire (quite the opposite...no one gets juiced up for playoff softball like me) but because I must stand up for what is right. After calling my friend from the beach to find out how we did on Tuesday I was alarmed to hear he did not play in the first game and got one at-bat in the second despite the fact we only had 11 guys. Talk about a slap in the face to a guy who never complains about playing time, is the first to coach a base, encourages his teammates at all times, and always gives 100% when he does get to play. By the way, Scott is the last person to complain so I had to work hard to get him to give me this info. Then on Thursday, he comes back (again the 11th guy) to find out he's not in the lineup and overhearing an urgent call to Eric about how badly Eric was needed. How many games did Eric make this year...bet I could count them on one hand. How many teams make the playoffs...that's right, we all do. Sure, seeing as though Scott is a first year player, he'd be the first to admit his game needs work, but imagine how that must have felt. Make no mistake he knows his role...if we have enough guys he knows, most likely, he's not starting...but when we don't have enough guys...ouch! How is Scott's dedication repaid...with the constant reminder that the team could care less about him. Well, I care about Scott and will not play for a team that treats its players in this way. That's why it's with sincere regret that I will not be playing for the remainder of the season...or ever again for this team. Thanks for the great opportunity and good luck in the playoffs...you've got a great team with or without me! Show
